Energen Rolls

Just eating some toast for breakfast, and realise the bread is not my normal type it has a sort of light airy texture, slimmers bread I think.

This reminds me of something from my past, when I was a child in the 70s my mum was on a diet and got some weird rolls that tasted of air! seriously they were actually a very unusual texture. I think they were called Energen rolls or crispbreads.

I wonder if you can still get them, they were lovely with lashings of butter (defeats the purpose). Strange how you have a memory of a texture/taste from so many years ago (nearly 50)

Does anyone remember these rolls and if they still exist.

Oh I remember them! They used to come in a big box. It was like eating crispy cotton wool. I too used lashings of butter Grin

My mum and my sister had those!

I remember these too. I think the Pagen Krisprolls might be similar.

Actually, having thought about it - well not much else to do - Dorset knobs are probably more similar.

I remember them - my mum had them when dieting - called them “Fuzzballs” because that’s exactly what they tasted like.

My grandparents always had at least one big box of the things. They must have had a lengthy shelf life.
They were unusual but not unpleasant.
Strange thing is I never thought my grandparents had weight issues

I have not long woken up.
In bed with my phone.
Remembered my grandparents big boxes of Emergency rolls.
They were ok when a kid was desperate for something to eat.
Very crisp exterior with very little within.
