Boris baby called Tom?

Just pondering that it would be so touching if Boris called this latest baby Tom after Colonel Tom Moore.
I think when there's a story behind a name it adds so much more meaning

I wouldn't put it past him. The public would love it.

maddy68 · 30/04/2020 09:51

He would do anything for populism

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 30/04/2020 09:51

Yes - it would be even more touching as Boris was saved at St Thomas’ hospital. So so lovely.

🙄. Honestly. I hope the poor child has a name that he and his parents genuinely like. Not Thomas Chris Valance Patrick Whitty Covid NHS (Maybe add in Keir as a nod to Labour - we’re all in this together!) or whatever portmanteau can be cobbled together from this crisis. He is a little human being who deserves his own identity.

WickedlyPetite · 30/04/2020 09:52

I don't think it'd be touching, I think it'd be bloody ridiculous. But I very much doubt it's going to happen Grin

x2boys · 30/04/2020 09:55

Let's face it whatever they call the baby posters on here will snipe and bitch about it that's certain

GrimmsFairytales · 30/04/2020 09:57

Agreed. Being named after someone can be quite a curse. The pressure to live up to their greatness or impressive history. It's a burden, and the being in the public eye as he likely will be he, doesn't need the constant reference throughout his life.

ProfChaos · 30/04/2020 10:03

Ugh.

Itoldyouiwasill · 30/04/2020 10:03

Ah well maybe they'll settle for something like Ronnie just cos they like it!

It wouldn’t be touching... cringe

Kingjarvis · 30/04/2020 10:11

Doesn’t matter what he’s called. The left will be nasty and vicious about it. Standard now.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 30/04/2020 10:20

I appreciate that Tom Moore did a lovely thing but I don't really understand why he has become such huge news, not to the extent that he has.

In any case, I doubt Johnson's latest baby will be named after him. Tom is a great name though.

1066vegan · 30/04/2020 10:22

Seeing how he timed the pregnancy announcement perfectly to distract the media from the Priti Patel bullying accusations, I wouldn't put it past him. He's a former journalist, master of spin and knows how to appeal to populism.

The government is doing its best know but completely fucked up at the beginning of the pandemic which is why we have one of the worst death rates in the world. He must be desperate to do something to raise his popularity.

Don't forget, this isn't some starry-eyed first time dad. He has an unknown number of children including a 10 year old daughter that he's never met, and he's also a serial philanderer who cheated on his last wife while she was receiving treatment for cancer. If any of his OH's had posted anonymously on MN about their relationships, most posters would have replied LTB.

Reginabambina · 30/04/2020 10:25

@Gobbolinothewitchscat Grin

whatdoyoudonow · 30/04/2020 10:30

God please no.
I wouldn't put it past him!

This

Sparklingbrook · 30/04/2020 10:37

Did he cheat on his wife while she was being treated for cancer? I thought they were separated before that.

Anyway, I am not sure anybody is that interested in the baby name. As a PP said whatever it is there will be seventeen threads on here announcing it and why it’s awful.

1066vegan · 30/04/2020 10:55

@Sparklingbrook You're absolutely right (and I was wrong). They separated because she was fed up with him repeatedly cheating on her. Her cancer diagnosis was later. He's still a shit, but not quite as big a shit as I'd made him out to be in my pp.

Interesting article here www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/sep/07/boris-johnson-wife-affair-tories-party-cheat-liar

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 30/04/2020 10:58

I am no Tory and not a Boris fan but some of you are proper spiteful aren't you ? Bet you were proper bullies in school .

midsomermurderess · 30/04/2020 10:59

It's too ordinary a name, going on the children he has with his second wife. But then the other child we know about is Stephanie, and Symonds is bound to have her own ideas.

NotACleverName · 30/04/2020 11:00

We're spiteful by stating facts about Boris Johnson?

TheVanguardSix · 30/04/2020 11:02

Why Col. Tom?
The nurse who looked after him, surely, if you're going to go down that road.

midsomermurderess · 30/04/2020 11:02

The Boris personality cult. It's just something we're going to have to thole for the next 5 (?) years, Clever. I will never fail to be amazed at how biddable people are.

TheVanguardSix · 30/04/2020 11:03

Luis! That's my brother's middle name actually.
But he could give him the middle name Luis. Now that would be a worthy nod.

Starisnotanumber · 30/04/2020 11:11

Good job he wasn't looked after by a nurse called Jesus which is a popular Spanish name. I bet he would have put that in the list of suitable names

Toddlerteaplease · 30/04/2020 11:13
