First time mum so have no clue on what to buy. Can’t afford to buy everything unfortunately so after advice, is there anything you bought for your baby that was a waste of money and you didn’t use? Thanks for the help.

New Moses basket, they are expensive and baby isn't in it for long. You can pick them up secondhand for a song.
For dd1 everything I bought apart from the car seat was second hand. No regrets

I'd say baby bath. We used one of the seat inserts in the regular bath. Also clothes! Babies live in baby grows and the amount of clothes I have to my friend still bnwt was unreal.

Outfits for when they're very small. Looked a bit silly and were too much of a faff. Stick to baby grows.
Baby swing, rocker, play mat. Wouldn't sit/ lie on anything like that.
Fancy blankets. Anything other than cellular you worry about going over their heads.
Baby bath as pp said. Mine cried in the baby bath and it took ages to fill. I bought a brand new washing up bowl for a couple of quid and she was much happier in that until she was big enough for the main bath.
A silver cross pram. Was too heavy and cumbersome. Bought an uppababy a few weeks later.
A hard sling. Those things are awful. Stretchy wraps are brilliant

Travel system. Baby would scream unless held for first couple of months so never used the bassinet bit. Only really needed car seat and sling for ages. Not all babies are like that though!

Everything else was second hand, either passed on by friends or bought off Gumtree. Absolutely no regrets. Most stuff for newborns is a complete waste of money.

I agree about clothes. All you need is vests and sleepsuits to start, plus a couple cardigans and blankets.

You don’t need a travel system, just a stroller that is suitable from birth. You could also skip the Moses basket and go straight to a cot if sticking to a budget. DS we only in a Moses basket for a few weeks and then had to go to a cot anyway and preferred it.
