Wheely shopping trolley thing.

You know the kind I mean. Do I need one? I'm not 80 yet but I've been doing loads of walking since the lockdown and I've actually enjoyed walking to get supplies that I've been putting in my backpack.

I'm usually a lazy arse and would use the car, I'm feeling a long lasting lifestyle change coming on. I can see myself walking to the local market on Saturdays and filling my trolley with local produce.

Does anyone have one and use it or am I about to spunk £30 on something I'll never use.

I bought one from Ikea about 8 years ago. I have never used it Blush

I over think it, I mean how can you wheel it and carry your basket and put things in your basket whilst holding it or do you just rest it but it seems really cumbersome with narrow aisles. I suppose you could fill it up and unload it at the check out and load it back up again? See overthinking it.

I have one but only use it when I don't have access to the car. They're a pain to lift in/out of the bus when they're full and also to pull, especially uphill. Not looking forward to DH going back to the office, I like having the car to go shopping!

I balance the basket on the top, or I take a wheely basket and push the trolley and drag the basket.

Take a big deep trolley and put your wheely thing in the bottom, pile shopping on top, unload onto checkout belt then take wheely thing out of trolley to pack it at the other end. Or just use the wheely thing instead of basket/trolley.

I am very attracted to the practicality of these as whenever I shop in town I buy way too much for me to manage. Reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine only made me want one even more but alas, I have not yet bought one.

Rachel1350 · 29/04/2020 20:27

I have one and love it. I bought it when my children grew too big for the buggy.

Rachel1350 · 29/04/2020 20:30

PS. The old people ones have 4 wheels and are super sturdy. I think some even have a seat too. Mine only has two wheels so I must be young still! 🤣

Sporty and insulated, only £36.
My Mil has one 🙂
I’m tempted to discourage laziness and buying too much.

Mine has three wheels on each axle so you don’t have to drag it up steps, it walks up them! And the checkerboard print is cool, not granny.
People park them at the far end of the checkout and go round the supermarket without it. Also to avoid suspicion of shoplifting.

Good if you go to the shops on foot. Otherwise not really.

Sgtmajormummy · 29/04/2020 20:46

This is the type.

Dd has a toy peppa pig one. She likes to drag it round the supermarket usually with a dolls head hanging out the top🤣🤣🤣

I've had wheelie trolley for about 10 years. I think they are brilliant. Our local supermarket is too close to drive so it's handy for heavy shopping like milk and juice. Plus the kids love to pull it, so it's win-win for me.

Bluebellbike · 29/04/2020 21:14

I have the one JKScot4 posted the picture of. It has a big hook with which you can hang it on your shopping trolley whilst walking round the shop. My friend calls it my shoplifting trolley as it's insulated with a foil bubble wrap so won't trigger alarms. Of course I'm not a shoplifter though, I like the insulation as it keeps stuff frozen longer.

QuimJongUn · 29/04/2020 21:34

I have one of these

It's the ideal middle ground between a proper shopping trolley and a bag. It folds up flat enough to go into a shoulder canvas tote type bag so you don't need to drag it behind you on your way to the shop and it's easy to carry when you're in the shop too. Plus it folds away to nothing when you get home. The handles are also long enough to wear over your shoulder if you want to carry it like that.

I have a trolley too but I never use it now I've got one of these bags. Trollies are maybe sturdier but the wheeled bags are so cheap, if mine needs replacing once a year I won't mind.

QuimJongUn · 29/04/2020 21:36

Forgot to say, mine is the black and white spotty one - it's the bigger size and I can carry most of a week's shopping for 3 adults in it (with a bit of overspill in the tote I carry it to Aldi in).

CatsMother66 · 29/04/2020 21:41

I’m on my second. Loads of people, all ages have them in my small town. I live 800 yards from Tesco Express and always used it. They come in funky designs. My DS would stand on the bottom bar and I used to pull him up from the town as well as my shopping. I’ve taken it on picnics and the beach. I use the frame from my old one to move compost bags and sacks of chicken feed around the garden.

LucilleBluth · 29/04/2020 21:44

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get a funky one, thank you 😀

My youngest is 9 so I'm well out of the buggy phase. I work full time so I'll have to do a basic online shop maybe then walk to the market on Saturdays for fresh/treat stuff then stop for a coffee in town when this god forsaken virus has pissed off.

There's a lovely walk from our house into town and we would benefit from doing it more often. It's just so easy after working all week to jump in the car. It really is a bit of a lifestyle change.
