We have a gallery wall behind the sofa. A big round mirror on the wall with the door. Double doors into the garden. And a big blank space to fill above the tv. What can I put there? Inspiration wanted please! Tv is on a low unit

We have a square white framed print of a butterfly behind the telly (my choice), a big, oak framed mirror on the chimney breast (his choice) with a string of grey/pink/mint coloured LED paper-ball lights across where the old gas fire used to be, to hide the blank space where we filled in the old back boiler. Wish we'd kept it open for a real fire.

Also, 2 x three-picture frames with snaps from our holiday to NYC.

Puddlejuice · 29/04/2020 13:23

2 limited edition prints, would have LOVED originals but far too spendy.
Then doors / windows etc on other walls

FrenchyQ · 29/04/2020 13:33

65" tv on the main wall. A limited edition framed print on the other....our neighbour used to have it in her living room and I loved it then. She died last april and her family sent everything out of her house to auction so we bought it, it fits perfectly and matches our living room decor (and also reminds me of our neighbour everytime I'm in the room )

Our relaxing/ play living room has three baskets brought home from Namibia. An oil painting ( it's Indian but we bought it in London). A shabby very old Persian kilim. A huge print from a friend who did an exhibition depicting Genesis ( I'm not religious but it's just gorgeous). Two framed photos of our favourite beach at sunrise/ sunset.

We have a smaller room with a large silver mirror over the fireplace. A beautiful, huge abstract oil painted by MIL ( professional artist), a watercolour of my home city I got for my 18th birthday, a cute painting of a dog and a small landscape of MIL's beach home in South Africa.

We have lots of photos on various tops/ windowsills- mostly of the kids. I keep meaning to update them.

Perfidy · 29/04/2020 14:11

Nothing yet, moved not long before lockdown. Used to have an original Large watercolour by dh’s cousin, professional artist. Of a local waterfront pub. 2 prints Limited edition prints Framing it.

A huge box frame contains 4 huge Thai ‘silver’ necklaces. It’s a bit marmite but I love it. We had 2 smaller prints From holidays in Cornwall.

Huge house plant took up quite a bit of space.

Nothing above mantelpiece as had a feature wall, big flowers wallpaper, bit naff but never got around to doing something else and I liked it.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 29/04/2020 14:14

Fire place and large round mirror on one, a hotchpotch of photos in miss matched frames on door wall and behind the sofa I have 3 'Roseberry Hare' pictures and a large photo collage.

StCharlotte · 29/04/2020 14:14

Classic Victorian living room with bay window. Oval mirror above the mantlepiece, shelves and cupboard in both alcoves - TV and ornaments on one side and books and a few framed photos on the other.

On the walls we have a personalised wedding plate, our "special" marriage licence, a beautiful large document with the Archbishop of Canterbury's seal which DH had framed for Christmas after we got married. Another wall has four small watercolours grouped together "as one" all bought on our travels and the other wall next to the window has a pair of watercolours from another trip.

Probably outed myself good and proper!

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 29/04/2020 14:17

Paintings. Paintings everywhere in fact. But I'm lucky. One of my relatives was a member of the Royal Academy and my DM is a gifted amateur.

lucysmam · 29/04/2020 14:46

At the moment, just my big mirror. & I have two, large, heart frames to go back at either side of it.

I'm very slowly decorating in there & have run out of paint :( I don't need anything else (essential or not) so have no plans to go to town for a tin for a while.

I'm considering one of those frameless clocks for one wall maybe. & have been looking for more frames - I like the idea of a gallery wall.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 29/04/2020 14:54

I really want a Die, Cry Hate picture but not really Wink.
I really need to buy some new large prints for my newly decorated wall - which is silver.

rosiethehen · 29/04/2020 14:58

We have a persian rug hanging up as a wall hanging and lots of pictures and a woven thing. There are also four wall plates which I know is a bit old fashioned now, but I like them.

We also have a cuckoo clock.

FizzyPink · 29/04/2020 15:02

Currently a bloody awful framed print that MIL bought for DP years ago entitled “rules of being a gentleman” Hmm It kills me that we’ve done so much to the place and it’s looking gorgeous apart from this horrendous artwork. He’s just managed to get rid of another giant thing she bought so doesn’t want to risk offending her by disposing of it.

There’s a girl I follow on Instagram called Yharnna Designs who does some amazing art and I’d love to buy some of her canvases to replace our current monstrosity

vanillandhoney · 29/04/2020 15:03

Three paintings
3 of those "cube" bookshelves/storage things.
Three regular bookshelves.

That's it at the moment but we've only just finished redecorating. The plan eventually is to add a mirror, a clock and some more wall art.

LaMarschallin · 29/04/2020 15:03

Blood...

AgeLikeWine · 29/04/2020 15:04

Paint, and original wildlife/ landscape art. And dirty fingerprints, squashed bugs, stains of indeterminate origin etc etc

LaMarschallin · 29/04/2020 15:05

Not really.
A few paintings that we like and (humph!) DH's weather station thingy that needs batteries.

It's a cloudy day in January, apparently.

AnneOfTeenFables · 29/04/2020 15:11

In the main sitting room, we have metal artwork on one wall. Framed black and white 'arty' photos of locations that are important to us on another. And above the fireplace, we have an original print by one of my favourite artists, and a selection of vintage prints.

In the family living room, we have a painting above the sofa, two batiks we brought back from our travels, cartoon painting of the family, framed paintings by the DCs, and an original illustration from one of their favourite authors.

SunflowerSeedsForever · 29/04/2020 15:12

What is a gallery wall?

MsChatterbox · 29/04/2020 15:12

Maybe put some shelves with fake plants?

MinnieMountain · 29/04/2020 15:18

We have a photo of sunset at a beach which we love above our TV.

Fuss · 29/04/2020 15:41

2 enormous London Bus destination blinds. I absolutely love them but appreciate they are an acquired taste

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 29/04/2020 15:45

A heart shaped frame with photos in from a family photo shoot we had a few years ago (really should have another as my brother has had 2 more children since we had it done).
A picture of a flower.

A massive Hufflepuff banner Grin
Random artwork on the chimney breast
Shelves of collections. Mainly Disney/Harry Potter.

My house is not tasteful but it is 'us'

Oldraver · 29/04/2020 15:46

A nap of Middle Earth

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 29/04/2020 15:51

We have French doors into the garden with a tall window on either side along the back wall, one wall had the sofa against it with nothing on. The third has DHs desk with his computer and work stuff on it. Above that is a large photo frame with 25 various family photos in it. The 4th has the TV on a low stand, a wall hanging cupboard next to it and a shelf above it like the photo, but the opposite way round and minus the floor standing cupboard. We also have a vase on either side of the stand with large paper roses in them.

What do you have on the walls in your living room?
Racheyg · 29/04/2020 19:12

We have a double lounge so above the fireplace we have a mirror. The opposing wall we have 2 Shepard Fairy prints. In the 2nd lounge we have more prints from Pure Evil, a queen of the Stone Age gig poster from New York and a seb lester home sweet home print
