Am I having a period?

Posting here for traffic, sorry.

I turned 52 last month. My last period was March 2018, not even a tiny hint of anything since then and I only had three or four in the year up to then. I was sterilised aged 38.

I started bleeding on Sunday and it's still going on. It looks like period blood, not bright but dull in colour and not particularly heavy, but constant.

I guess I should see a doctor but now doesn't feel like the right time.

Do speak to your GP, it needs checking out.

My mum “periods” over a longer time period, and she was older than you are. GP said nothing to worry about. After more than a year at Mum’s insistence she referred Mum for a biopsy and she had endometrial cancer. Hysterectomy. Mum recovered well and has been OK since. The GP said that she would refer more post menopause women with bleeding for biopsy.

Also said that in most cases is nothing serious, which am sure is true, but IMO it’s a classic example of poor access to NHS specialist services in UK.

Please call your GP today. It's probably nothing, but be on the safe side and get checked out.

As above, post menopausal bleeding needs checking out and investigating to rule out endometrial cancer.

YY to often not serious, but better safe than sorry!
