Why are you awake?

Couldn't see one of these so thought I'd start one - nice to know you're not the only one up when most people are fast asleep

I'm a terrible sleeper and it's been made worse with lockdown and no real routine, my natural body clock would be 3/4am to 10/11am if I had a choice but I'm currently sitting up late and then getting up early with the kids, then paying for it all day!

So why are you up?

Five week old baby boy having a fussy night.

Trumped himself awake ten minutes ago after I’d only just got him to sleep.

Thelonewanderer · 28/04/2020 02:18

Anxiety. I'm sleeping for a few hours and then waking up because of nightmares

user764329056 · 28/04/2020 02:19

Insomniac here which has worsened during lockdown, am all over the place

theitch · 28/04/2020 02:23

Let my 10 & 6year old have a sleepover in my bed with me. I have no room. I'm hot. It's not fun 😁

DivaRainbow · 28/04/2020 02:25

Teething baby is unsettled 🙈

Rebootingagain · 28/04/2020 02:25

Insomnia / regularly stay up - couple of nights straight or only manage a couple of hours.

It sucks the life out of you

Coronacantcope · 28/04/2020 02:25

Windy 11mo thrashing around :(

DramaAlpaca · 28/04/2020 02:26

Night owl here but even my weird body clock has been totally thrown out by lockdown.

Icequeen01 · 28/04/2020 02:28

My cats have woken me up crying! I've had to lock them in overnight as they have a vets appointment at 9am and I can't guarantee they will appear in the morning if I open the catflap! It's going to be a long night, they have sussed something's up and their anxieties are rising!!

Zandra123 · 28/04/2020 02:29

Rubbish at this sleep thing but recently worse than ever with not working.

FireandFury · 28/04/2020 02:32

We’re 5 hours behind here but my sleep has been quite disrupted and I may try and get an early night tonight.

namechangedyetagain · 28/04/2020 02:33

Anxiety, nightmares, dark thoughts and terrifying mind flashes about being without my children. General worries about the future.

Currently listening to the rain and a snoring dog. I brought him to bed last night as sometimes having his heaviness on the bed soothes me. He's having a great night's sleep. Me not so much.

Pinkandwhiteblossom · 28/04/2020 02:35

I’m making scrubs for the NHS and was desperate to finish the last set tonight as I have a ridiculous work day tomorrow. Didn’t realise how late it was getting and didn’t finish til 1.30

Now my brain won’t settle and I can’t get to sleep.

IAmLegendaryExtra · 28/04/2020 02:36

Heard some loud voices walking by the side of my house about 10 minutes ago had to do some curtain twitching. Who takes a walk by 2am? And I was having nightmares earlier too.

Bexi3 · 28/04/2020 02:36

Woke to a commotion at 1.45am Looked out the window, 3 men got out a car started shouting then threw something heavy into the field opposite. Drove off noisily setting off all the dogs barking in the neighbourhood.
Feeling shook up and now can't sleep.

BalloonDinosaur · 28/04/2020 02:37

I'm at work. And the one particular colleague that I really can't stand decided to sit next to me for our 12 hour shift.

Trying very hard to bite my tongue, only 3 1/2 hours to go...

Thanks for anyone struggling

EvilHerbivore · 28/04/2020 02:39

@BalloonDinosaur Thanksfor you too, I know the struggle of announcing colleagues all too well

Teacher with small children. Homeschool and childcare all day, work all night.

I am dead. The sooner schools open so I can go to work and get a break, the better!

cheeseycracker · 28/04/2020 02:40

It's Ramadan so I'm having my last drinks and nibbles til 8:30pm tomo Grin

TheDogsMother · 28/04/2020 02:44

Sleep pattern is wrecked by COVID anxieties and also very upset that my dog was put to sleep a couple of days ago. I need to pull myself together as I have a telephone interview tomorrow. Night all.

thaegumathteth · 28/04/2020 02:45

Because in the middle of the night is the only time I don't have someone telling me something / asking me something / arguing / needing help etc. So even though I won't / can't get a lie in I'm awake now to get a bit of headspace from it all.

hayley2257 · 28/04/2020 02:45

4 week old hasn't slept all night urg!!

minimummum · 28/04/2020 02:48

Terrible sleeper. Hot milky drink and will try again

NaomiFromMilkShake · 28/04/2020 02:48

Because when I wake up tomorrow I have very little to do. Sad

DH still working full pelt, DS taking one for the team on the Xbox.

I am shielded and furloughed since day one................. ergo, garden is quite close to perfect, patio is cleaner than a clean thing, patio furniture is sparkling. (cast aluminium so took bloody days), chiminea all waxed up and ready to go, logs and kindling ordered for patio fires for this summer, in a fit of desperation I tidied out the larder today, it took three hours , block paving path done, every groove excavated by hand, moss free, weed free..............

Do the kitchen every morning and then hoover, ditto bathroom.

Technically I have nothing to do tomorrow and it does not sit well with me, so I am lying here trying to think of things to do that will keep from just watching TV or reading.

God I am bored.

caramac04 · 28/04/2020 02:50

Insomniac here although I’ve slept well the last couple of weeks. I got up to try and rid my brain of random fragments of song lyrics on repeat.
My dogs are gently snoring and I’m yawning.
On a positive note I’ve secured a delivery slot for sometime next month. Can’t remember the date now but I’ll check it sometime before.
