If anyone uses a salbutamol inhaler gets the shakes after using can you tell me how long it lasts?

Yes - about an hour with inhaler - several hours with nebuliser.

PracticalTacticalBrilliance · 27/04/2020 12:12

About an hour or so. Although since I've been switched to Fostair as my main inhaler, the shakes from the Salbutamol isn't nearly as bad - I assume my body's got used to it a bit more.

Nishky · 27/04/2020 12:13

Yes. Usually if I take increased dose due to an attack

Thanks. I haven't used it for years and the horrible feeling is all I remember. I have been given one as I have shortness of breath sometimes. It's not too bad normally as I'm relatively inactive but I have been decorating my living room and I'm struggling so figured it's time to use it again.

Would you be better using a spacer if your dr can prescribe one

CigarsofthePharoahs · 27/04/2020 15:04

Yeah, it's normal. Haven't needed my salbutamol in ages, but did today as my allergies have been getting worse and worse. About ten minutes after using it and I'm all trembly. Salbutamol is a stimulant and increases the heart rate. I had to lie down until in went away.

@CigarsofthePharoahs

Sorry, I know it’s normal, I was just wondering how longe typically people experience the shaky feeling for.

@HappyHammy

Thanks. I have a spacer, I actually didn’t consider that it might make a difference - will definitely be using it.

I use a spacer and still get the shakes, even with a couple of puffs. I've never timed it but I think it's about an hour in length.
