Gas bbq - how to get flavour

Novice here. I tend to buy disposables as I didn't have a garden until recently. Thinking of buying a gas bbq soon. Do you need to out charcoal or wood chips in them - the one I am going to buy is the Lidl bbq

Hi there,
As an Australian I can say that gas bbqs are pretty standard here. You still get the bbq flavour with gas.
Most gas bbqs would not have anywhere to put chips or charcoal anyway.

My dh doesn't tend to add anything to our gas bbq but if you really want a smoky flavour you can always use something like this.
