Smart watches for kids?

DD will be 9 in June and she's asking for a smart watch for her birthday. There just seems to be so much choice online, some of them look too childish but others look too grown up. Does anyone have any recommendations please?

DS who is 9 has a Fitbit Ace 2 and DD who is 6 had a Garmin Vivofit Junior.
The Ace is more grown up to look at, but for the price is very basic, but it does seem pretty accurate in measuring steps etc. Garmin is good, but maybe a bit young for your daughter. I like the fact you don't have to charge it though whereas the Ace needs charging every week or so. Both are waterproof and have lasted well.

If you want something with more bells and whistles but don't want to spend a lot then (providing it'll fit a child 🤔) I'd get a Mi watch. DH has one, it's very cheap, accurate and does most of the stuff my Fitbit Ionic does but was a fraction of the price.

How about the kind that doesn’t collect a load of data?

I've just re-read your post and wondered if I've completely missed the point. Did you mean a fitness tracker or one of the kids smart watches like the Kidizoom? If the latter, then my post won't be any help - sorry!

DD2 who is 9 got one for Christmas from her friend.

@Logoplanter I'm none the wiser, DD just wants a smart watch Confused I will probe her tomorrow for more details as to what exactly she wants it to do.

DD2 (8) got a Fitbit Ace 2 for Christmas. She absolutely loves it. She loves tracking her steps and her sleep patterns.

I've asked DD and explained the different sort of watches you can get, she likes the idea of a Fitbit type watch so I think that's probably what we'll look for Smile

Both my DCs have the Fitbit ace 2. It is a bit basic for the price but, what it does do, it does well.
It’s been great for lockdown as they’re quite competitive so want to beat the other in the step count! So it’s kept them quite active.
