Hi
What's a good phone to get for an 11 year old boy.
Thanks

We got our DS a reconditioned iPhone 7. We wanted Apple as both DH & I have iPhones and iPads and I wanted to set up apple family sharing to control what apps he could use etc. It's worked a treat so far and he is delighted with it.

On his11th birthday, I gave DS my old one (Id recently had an upgrade). It was an iPhone 5s, I think. He said he’d rather have that plus a proper present (I said he could have a new phone but that would be his main present).

Mine had the iPhone SE, much cheaper than the other iPhones, less breakable (in my experience of dropping phones!!) like a PP we wanted iPhones so all of them could connect with ours for things like family sharing/phone tracking/app permissions etc

My son (12) has smashed 2 phones by dropping them. They broke despite having screen protectors. I then discovered that fixing a screen costs upwards of £50 depending on the phone, and is not even guaranteed for very long. So he now has our cast offs. My advice is therefore -don't spend a fortune.

A cheap one - seriously buy what you can afford outright, second hand if possible and get a giffgaff or similar SIM card, they don't need much data as they can use WiFi at home. Put on parental controls

Our iPhone SEs were £10 and £15 per month - that was for the phone, and unlimited calls/texts and 2gb data. Through sky. So didn’t pay anything upfront for the phones.
