Contraceptive Implant over 3 Years

My contraceptive implant runs out in May. I assume with the lockdown/ coronavirus situation I won’t be able to have it removed then.

What happens if you leave it in for longer than 3 years? Is it harder to remove? Will it affect my fertility at all long term? (Once this virus has been dealt with I would quite like another child).

It will come out fine and when it's out your fertility will return to normal. But you should not rely on it for contraception as it may not be as effective at the end of the 3 years.
