Cough still after 6 weeks

Me and Dh both had a bad cough/could/sinus infection 5-6 weeks ago.

Dh is completely better.

I was feeling better but the last few days my chest is so painful and tight. I can’t stop coughing, feeling like I can’t take a deep breath and when I do I cough loads.

What shall I do? Just ride it out? I don’t have a temp.

Whooping cough is known as the cough of a hundred days. Do the symptoms fit?

Ring nhs 111 sounds like a chest infection and you could need a course of antibiotics

Yes! Iv just looked and it looked very similar to how we were at the beginning. I was so mucusy.

I feel like I need to cough but have to take a deep breath before I can cough.

My anxiety is through the roof, all I keeping thinking is I’m going to die of pneumonia 😩😩

I've had similar for a long time, last week I called the doctor and she prescribed Doxycycline. That seems to have done the trick at last.

And you don't think you might have Coronavirus?

Moondust001 · 25/04/2020 22:20

May well be a post-viral cough - they can last several weeks to months! You must check though. If it is, my daughter is a doctor, and she taught me a trick for post-viral irritating coughs. It sounds really ludicrous, but I found it works and so have several other people I have told. When you have an urge to cough, breath in really deeply through your nose. Pucker up your lips like an exaggerated kiss, then push your breath out through the lips. Do it every time. It really, actually works. Takes a few days.
