Things you don't do because your mum did

Just for fun. Because mum did these when I was growing up: I don't peel potatoes in a bowl full of cold water. I don't buy margerine. I don't have Sunday pre-roast dinner ritual whereas she listened to The Archers then watched The Waltons before potatos would go in the oven to roast.

Freeze uncooked meat. My mum didn’t seem to realise that it does still go off eventually even if you freeze it Envy

God, I try not to do anything she did from when I was 3 beyond

My mum was (is) very careful of germs. I'm the opposite and have no problems giving my DC food that has dropped on the floor or gone past the sell-by date.

She's very early for everything whereas I aim to be right on time.

I try not to criticize myself and be kind to myself. It's hard though. She's horrible.

CurlyEndive · 07/05/2020 11:43

She's generally quite stressed about things whereas I am very laid back Smile

Iron duvet covers. Think watching TV in the daytime is devil's work. Have a meltdown if the rear view mirror gets knocked. Think it's wrong to have any kind of time to yourself when you have children.

God, where to start..... so many ! I don't:

Wear 3 inches of dark brown make up every day
Think my only value is in my looks/sexuality
Think I am a sex godess
Wear high heeled shoes every day of my life
Only wear dresses and skirts

Scream, shout and throw things when I don't get my way

Use words like spastic, mongol

Judge people on their appearance and background

I don't like my mum much....sad.

The lighthearted answer is:

  • watch soaps
  • knit
  • host houseparties
  • diet
  • avoid seasonings of any kind

I'll not do the bad stuff Grin keeping it light people

Remembered this just now, as I was doing a bit of washing by hand (my kids probably won't even do that do that). My mum used to boil up in a big pan, my dads handkerchiefs and I think his big white underpants. Sod that! 🤢
