In a parallel universe far, far away...what would you being doing right now?

Saturday afternoon.
I would be wandering round the high street, trying on clothes, meeting friends for coffee. Then home, before going out to a nice pub or wine bar to meet friends, perhaps a meal. And I'd be taking it all for granted, because it's my normal.

Sitting in mums garden, with my mum.

SegregateMumBev · 25/04/2020 13:42

Today I should either have been getting a PB at Uni Stirling parkrun, followed by a Scottish dancing workshop, OR at a Scottish dance afternoon tea dance.

merryhouse · 25/04/2020 13:44

Singing at a wedding.

SophieB100 · 25/04/2020 13:47

Aw, @LilacTree1, is there any way you could still do that, (even if you sit far apart)? Sorry if I'm being nosy.

OP not without Tube police and mum’s neighbours shopping us, no.

SophieB100 · 25/04/2020 13:51

@LilacTree1,The neighbours would shop you? Unforgivable.

I'd have completed a lovely walk, possibly somewhere picturesque in the Cotswolds, or maybe the South Wales coast. By now I'd be sat in a beer garden finishing a pub lunch with a cold cider and looking forward to a nap in the car on the way home.

We've still had a lovely walk in the woods close to home and I've tried to recreate the pub lunch with a posh fish finger sandwich.

bluechameleon · 25/04/2020 13:55

Enjoying the sunshine at a National Trust property, probably Waddesdon. The children would have a lovely time in the playground then we could all eat an ice cream and wander round the gardens.

LilacTree1 · 25/04/2020 13:57

Sophie the neighbours are doing everything they can for mum, we can’t risk pissing them off in normal times as I’m 90 mins away.

Maybe they wouldn’t, but I think they would.

They have swallowed everything the government have said. They’d think I was killing her.

iklboo · 25/04/2020 13:57

Walking down to the town centre with DH & DS, having something nice for lunch and a couple of drinks.

LilacTree1 · 25/04/2020 13:58

The other thing I could do in normal tines is read my book in the park. No outdoor space.

SophieB100 · 25/04/2020 14:01

@LilacTree1, that's a tricky one. Hopefully when things ease, seeing family will be one of the first restrictions lifted, that's what I'm hoping for, (and if they're not, I'll be doing a bit of sneaking around!).

I'd be sat on the shore at Portland Harbour watching DS sail his dinghy with his friends.

Navy123 · 25/04/2020 14:06

Introducing family, friends, ANYONE to my baby! He's 3 weeks old and has only met midwives so far. Ideally in a pub with a nice garden!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/04/2020 14:11

DS is with his dad this weekend.

What I was supposed to be doing right now is travelling down to London for my friend's birthday celebrations. We'd go out for cocktails and a dance.

What I'm actually doing is sitting in my flat wearing joggers drinking cider and watching repeats of Friends.

Frazzlerock · 25/04/2020 14:15

Enjoying our second weekend of married life.
We'd have been married exactly two weeks ago today.
One more year to go if nothing else gets in our way...

JuneFromBethesda · 25/04/2020 14:15

Singing services with my choir at Westminster Abbey. Gutted. It would have been one of the highlights of the year for me.

TheThingWithFeathers · 25/04/2020 14:21

I lead a very dull life even when not in lockdown so I'd just be at the library or browsing in charity shops. But it would still be better than cleaning the bathroom, which is what I'm doing this afternoon!

TreacherousPissFlap · 25/04/2020 14:24

Thankfully nothing different as preparing to start a night shift - I would however be hankering for an afternoon in a pub garden Grin

Unworthie · 25/04/2020 14:30

If I'd managed to get off nights then I'd be working a day shift.
If I was still on nights I'd be struggling to sleep between them probably.

Just in the process of a promotion and moving from nights to days when this all happened ☹️

Oakmaiden · 25/04/2020 14:35

Pretty much what I am doing now, to be honest.

Although I would have been out of the house at least twice this morning (taking daughter(16) to drama class, and then across town to dance), my youngest son(15) would probably have just come home from his friend's house (they stay over every fortnight, so they can play on the computer late into the night) and my eldest would have had 5 (noisy) friends arrive at about 11:30 and taken over my front room for the day.

I normally menu plan on a Saturday, make a trip to the shops later this afternoon to get the groceries (which will still happen) and just potter.

Jbck · 25/04/2020 14:36

Woke up this morning , saw the sun and thought we’ll take a wee run out to a favourite lochside spot then a stroll round nearby small town for fab fish supper sat by the river late afternoon...... then I remembered ☹️
One of the first things we’ll do hopefully with my Mum and Dad when things are better.

Nanalisa60 · 25/04/2020 14:37

Spin class at 10am then quick swim (only on length) then into hot tub and steam room!! Then shower get ready at gym then straight into town, and meet up with the girls for a lunch and a few drinks.

Home at around 4pm have a power nap, then out at night with husband, or night in with husband with take away.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 25/04/2020 14:38

We would have headed out to somewhere with a nice walk and probably had a picnic lunch. DS would have played in a park and we would have bought ice creams from a van. To be fair the afternoon wouldn't be that different, paddling pool and relaxing but it would have been a nice finish to busy day rather than the whole day!

Inconnu · 25/04/2020 14:39

Well realistically I'd be spending the day ferrying the DC to various sports matches and catching up on the laundry etc. But your day sounds more fun OP so I'll pretend I'd be doing that Smile
