Vacuum cleaner has just packed up. Any recommendations? I’ve wanted a dyson for a while but hear they are not as reliable as they used to be?

Another vote for the Shark. We had a Henry and I hated it. So heavy, bulky and the attachments felt clunky.

I bought my Shark 3 years ago and flippin' love it. Like someone else said, it literally leaves lines as I hoover my carpet between where I have and haven't hoovered.

I have a shark and a dyson
I’d go for a Bosch athlet

Forgot to say, BFF who is a clean freak, has just bought a Miele and loves it though it seems heavy.

Shark. I was astounded after getting a lift away how much dust came out of the carpet. Had a Henry previously and don’t know why people rate them to be honest, clunky, bulky, hurts your back, and doesn’t really offer that much suction. Oh and chips all your paintwork when the bastard falls over or gets stuck in the doorway, grinning at you.

Another bite for Shark, the duo cordless is fab especially the new anti-hair wrap one which I've just bought for upstairs!

I’d had three Dyson over 20 years and when the last one started failing earlier this year I bought a Shark (after asking for recommendations on here) and would never consider buying a Dyson again. Mine is a Liftaway and is so easy to use, and does an amazing job.

The Shark Lift Away is a game changer- so easy to clean stairs and corners without manouvering the whole Hoover!

I went off of Dyson when 2nd one we bought was so amazingly, pointlessly LOUD.
The Shark (Lift-Away, bought 4m ago) feels flimsier. Is more lightweight so DS prefers it. But it is simply a little loud, not screeching Loud.
They seem equally good at actual cleaning.
Time will tell.
