Can I refuse delivery?

I placed an order with Homebase a month ago, they took payment and it should have been delivered within 3 days. Weeks later, still nothing except one ‘sorry, been delayed, unprecedented demand’ email the week it was due.

I have now sourced the items elsewhere and been trying to contact Homebase for the last week to cancel (which they said in their email I could do if I wasn’t happy with the delay). They have not responded to emails (to the refunds address they specified) or messages on Twitter. Now I have had a text from DHL to say they are delivering this afternoon! I don’t want the stuff, I already have what I need and don’t have space to store the extra, I just want a refund. Can I just refuse the delivery?

Any advise much appreciated. Thanks.

Yes you can, tell the driver to return it to sender as you no longer want it. Do not sign for it. You'll need to look out for the driver though, he might put it on your doorstep and go.

Yes, definitely, and it's the right action to take.

Fantastic, thank you both! It’s not a huge amount of money but I am on furlough so could do with the refund and genuinely don’t have room to store the stuff now I won’t be using it any time soon.
