I’ve turned off my heating! Am I the only one?

It went off at the end of February and will be off until October.

adelaya · 25/04/2020 04:39

Ours has been off since feb. It’s been really warm.

lobsterkiller · 25/04/2020 06:14

Off since mid March. It wasn't a particularly cold winter/early spring, although the odd morning can feel chilly.

fairydustandpixies · 25/04/2020 06:24

Mine hasn't been on! Can't afford it! When it's been bitterly cold I've turned the thermostat from 0 to 15 for half an hour once a day but not since Christmas. Put a cardigan on!

Nquartz · 25/04/2020 06:37

Ours is on a thermostat so it's been too warm for it to come on for a few weeks.

Esspee · 25/04/2020 06:41

Can't imagine doing without heating. Surely you have thermostatic controls? Just set the temperature you are comfortable with. Does it matter what month it is?
Our heating bill is £57 a month. My phone contract is £5 a month. It's a matter of priorities, surely.

beebeedandelion · 25/04/2020 06:44

There is no way I could afford £57 a month. We pay £50 for gas and electricity, we only heat the house from February-December because that keeps it affordable so yes, the month matters.

getyoursocksoffhoney · 25/04/2020 07:49

We don't have a thermostat and haven't had it on for a weeks now, and that time it was only at night for a couple of hours (very old and big house) but we ended up being bloody boiling so it's not been on since even when it's still been chilly at night.

Bobbybobbins · 25/04/2020 07:53

Ours hasn't been on for 3 weeks. We have it on a thermostat set at 18 in the day and off at night and it hasn't been cold enough. Because we are drying all our washing outside now and not using the heated airer, hopefully this will make up for the fact we are home all the time!

Highlandyak · 25/04/2020 07:59

I still use mine a couple of times a week, it clicks on automatically when it drop below 13c so still done that a fair bit but also clicked it up to 18c a couple of times recently when it's felt chilly

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 25/04/2020 08:39

Ours is on a thermostat and is still kicking in during the cooler parts of the days. I hate being cold though, brings back awful memories from childhood. So I’d rather spend on heat and be comfortable and spend less elsewhere.

We have a friend that only puts in on during certain months and visiting means several layers and I find it really uncomfortable.

H1978 · 25/04/2020 09:48

Been off a few weeks now but when it gets a bit chilly on an evening we put the fire on in the front room

I expect she does as well but if you can't afford it you can't afford it.

PhoneLock · 25/04/2020 10:06

Ours is timed and set to come on when it drops below 18 but I haven't heard it fire up in weeks.

PhoneLock · 25/04/2020 10:11

Just checked and it's 7 outside and nearly 20 in. I'm surprised the house is so warm.

ReturnofSaturn · 25/04/2020 13:35

Haven't had mine on since end of Feb. And I have a very cold house. Just put my big dressing gown on over my clothes if I get nippy.
