Massive hairy spiders

So we managed to get through spider season without one massive spider thanks to the spindly ones. Tonight after months spider free we’ve had two completely huge ones in the house. Both the fat hairy type. One crawled over DS1 hand and has traumatised him. Now him and his brother are too scared to sleep.
Is there something strange going on in the spider world?

They come out at this time of year to mate. They will be around for a bit yet unfortunately.

Massive cunt on my curtains tonight.

I was kind and chucked him outside with a glass over him, but I shouted outside that I may not be so kind to the next ones.

Will just leave this here...

Oh really I didn’t realise that they mate now 🙁 I thought August to September was spider season?

We have had loads recently. Didn't have any at the usual time.

1 yesterday and 1 today! Just darted our into the middle of the room. DH is petrified of them so I'm the designated catcher (I don't like them either)

Normal mating season is not now! It is end Aug/Sept when it begins. Whole season of horror goes from then through most October

You have had the misfortune of some thick shitted 8 legged fucker who doesnt know his seasons!

kate1800 · 25/04/2020 01:33

I have been finding the big hairy type every night for the last few days! One in my bed as I got in !!

SnowsInWater · 25/04/2020 01:41

Spiders can kill you here (Sydney) so we just get our house sprayed every year 😁 As a spider hater it's bliss.

TheChippendenSpook · 25/04/2020 02:20

Ah! I'm not that knowledgeable about their mating habits. Grin For some reason I've always known them to be around in April though.

TheNestedIf · 25/04/2020 02:46

I'm not scared of spiders but I was quite perturbed the other night, when sitting in bed in the dark with my laptop on, to see the silhouette of two rather large spider legs at the bottom of my screen. Unfortunately, it disappeared before I could get the torch on it. If it's really true we all swallow an average of 8 spiders in our sleep in our lifetime, I really didn't want that to be one of them.

Actually, I really hope it wasn't.

Callingyounique · 25/04/2020 08:42

Omg I actually couldn’t sleep in my bed if I’d seen a spider on it or a silhouette on a screen. No way.
We once went to a hotel and only afterwards did DH tell me that there’s been the biggest spider ever in the bed and he hadn’t manage to catch it. I’d rather have not known.

May be it is lock down for spiders too!
