Lighthearted, Facebook “challenges” seriously annoying

Redrover87 · 24/04/2020 09:42

Yes yes I know I can mute them (I have done) but my Facebook feed appears to be flooded with all of these “motherhood challenge” “spouse challenge” etc

Here’s one I’ve seen just now copied and Pasted:
Day 2 “being a Mum” challenge. Every day I will select a picture from a day in the life of being a mum and post it without a single explanation and nominate somebody to take the challenge. 10 days, 10 photos, 10 nominations, 0 explanation

What’s the fucking point Grin

Also the “fix each other’s crown ladies” no fuck off! I’ve been tagged in loads now and I fail to see how they are challenges, more like just another way of showing off pictures of yourself/kids/husband.

I’m being lighthearted of course, just wanted a little moan about it and to see if anyone else found them annoying and pointless also. Or If there are any new challenges that I’m not aware of Grin

I’m also hoping to start a thread that isn’t about Coronavirus!Grin

I hate these too-it’s just showing off that they have a partner/children. Which is fine, people have the right to post what they want, it just comes across very smug, much like the people posting themselves clapping for the NHS.

LuvMyBoyz · 24/04/2020 10:01

I turned Facebook off at the start of the lockdown because of this, those posts that expected you to share them and all the ranting for/against the lockdown.

So much calmer with out it. I’ll turn it back on for walk arrangements and ideas when we’re allowed group walks again.

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 24/04/2020 10:57

All the crown fixing ones that appear on my FB show heavily filtered images. Doesn't that miss the bloody point a bit???

I haven't been tagged in any challenges. People know me better than that :D

Tigerbelle · 26/04/2020 12:15

Oh god they're so bloody boring. Mummy, pet, dog, whatever challenge 💤💤 The moment anyone I know puts up their 'Day 1', that's them blocked for 30 days! And I'm a right mardy arse as I've ignored about half a dozen nominations. So tedious!

fourpeasinapod · 26/04/2020 12:40

Yeah I agree OP, it’s all a bit too much for liking.

Safe to say if I’m nominated in anything like that, I’ll not be taking part! I’ll probably be seen as a spoil sport but I don’t care!

Bikebird · 15/05/2020 10:23

I hide these posts too. The irony of those taking part in these “challenges” - I find the folk who take part are the ones unloading a trillion photos of their kids / pets / partners on the daily anyway, making it a total non challenge. It’s almost a free card to be able to share their lives because they’ve now been nominated to so how could they possibly not?!! I love my child and my partner (and the cat 😁) dearly, they know this and that’s enough for me. So glad I’m not the only one who finds these post annoying and mundane. Thank you all for making me feel sane again 😁😂❤️

BarbaraofSeville · 15/05/2020 10:33

You are allowed to ignore them you know, it's not compulsory, even if you get nominated.

UhKevin · 15/05/2020 10:39

It drives me absolutely up the wall. IT’S NOT A FUCKING CHALLENGE TO POST A PICTURE AND YOU’RE NOT COOL AND CRYPTIC WITH YOUR ‘NO EXPLANATIONS’.

Why would you need to ‘explain’ a pic of your kid smiling or that album cover anyway? WHAT IS THERE TO EXPLAIN?

MAKE IT STOP

SunshineDays2019 · 15/05/2020 10:40

Yes, OP knows it's not compulsory, duh! She is allowed an opinion 🙄

WickedlyPetite · 15/05/2020 10:42

As soon as I see the words "I've been nominated to post..." I hit the "snooze this person for 30 days" button.

I couldn't give a flying fuck what your top 10 albums are, or whatever other bollocks you're about to start posting for days on end.

Redcrayons · 15/05/2020 10:46

I don’t bother with any of them.
My children don’t want their photos on FB, so I’m out of the motherhood challenge. I don’t really understand the fix your crown one. How am I building anyone else with a selfie of myself?

I’d consider the album one, but I’d get bored of myself after 2 days so wouldn’t bother.

WhatExit · 15/05/2020 10:54

What @UhKevin said, exactly. It is so stupid! What exactly is challenging about posting more photos of your kids that nobody wants to see??? Some people are so out of touch with how they are perceived by others.

user1495884620 · 15/05/2020 10:59

I've mostly seen them for songs/films and it all seems a bit pointless. If I've Got a Brand New Combine Harvester, Parklife and Wannabe are three songs that are important in your life, I'm more interested in why. The no explanations just kills the whole point of social media.

SockYarn · 15/05/2020 11:03

I hate them too. And I really don't care what album covers you're posting either.

Zaphodsotherhead · 15/05/2020 11:05

I ignore them too.

I thank the person who nominated me, but I just don't take the 'challenge'. I'd only forget by about day three anyway, I've got other things to think about.

Peridot1 · 15/05/2020 11:14

I did the album one. For about five days. Then I forgot. It was funny though as I was nominated by an ex from my teens so we were posting the same ones. Brought back some nice memories though.

I’ve a suspicion I’m about to be nominated in the book one that’s going around. I’ll probably do that but not actually nominate anyone. It will just be a suggestion of a book I’ve enjoyed.

3catsandcounting · 15/05/2020 11:21

Photo of mum/daughter looking lovingly at each other - "Share if you love your daughter"
Nah... I'm not that keen on mine really,
🙄 Ridiculous nonsense

khloebear · 27/05/2020 22:45

The ones that annoy me are the challenges to put buckets of water over yourself etc. I have better things to do with my time
