Anyone know about council houses?

The people who lived in the house next door to us moved out about a week before lockdown. The house is still empty. I saw a housing association van outside just after they moved out, and a gardener came last week, but no sign of anyone moving in.
Does anyone know how long it would normally take for new people to move in? Is this still empty just because of the current situation?
I'm only being curious here, my children keep asking when we will have new neighbours. I think they're hoping for some friends. Grin
It's a large 3 bed semi with a biggish garden.

Lettings are a bit messed up at the moment as people can't organise moves so social landlords are waiting in most cases, unless there is an urgent move. They may sign up the tenant but not be expecting them to move in as quickly as possible.

In normal times, there is a short period when it is empty between tenancies to allow repairs, gas checks, electrical tests and the EPC. This can be anything from 2 weeks to several months at the moment as repair supplies are hard to source.
Enjoy your time with no neighbours.

Depends what state the house is in it it needs some work doing to it ,in normal times ( going by my housing association) it can take a few months , but I expect everything is on hold due to lock down .
