The Damned's Phantasmagoria phase for me (Dave Vanian - fwoar), closely followed by The Sisters of Mercy.

My 1987 NYE night out was a Fields of the Nephilim gig at The Marquee.

I always go on my own to Sisters gigs, but dh will consent to being dragged to The Mish sometimes.
