Concert and festival refunds?

Shatandfattered · 22/04/2020 10:09

Does anyone have any inkling what the outcome will be for cancelled concerts and festivals? Is it likely to be a refund or will the tickets be valid for next year or a rescheduled date?

We’ve got tickets for the Hella Mega tour in June (Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer). It was announced yesterday that some shows are postponed (which we’d been expecting to happen) but it’s a bit sketchy as to whether the UK shows are included yet. According to Green Day’s website all of the European dates before they hit the UK aren’t happening, if the UK dates aren’t already postponed though I’d say it’s just a matter of time until they are. In that case we’ll just have to wait until the new dates are announced to see if we can make it or not, the two people I’m going with definitely can’t do weekdays.

BearSoFair · 24/04/2020 14:32

MadisonAvenue We're waiting for clarification on Green Day too! Like you, not expecting them to go ahead though.

Oldraver · 24/04/2020 14:41

I have tickets for June 5th in Oxford and so far the website says all performances cancelled until May 31st and will only process those. The lot I was going to see are from South Africa and have cancelled the world tour weeks ago

We've also got something elsewhere on 31st May and doubt it will go ahead

We have Killers tickets for June at Mallahide Castle, just had notice that it’s been rescheduled for June 2021.

InvisibleToEveryone · 24/04/2020 16:14

Anyone heard anything about the my chemical romance concerts?

The tickets are a surprise birthday present Confused

Cordillera · 24/04/2020 17:53

We had tix for several Brighton festival shows, have donated the cost of some and taken vouchers for the rest as we'll definitely go to something one day.

MadisonAvenue · 24/04/2020 18:14

BearSoFair I’m surprised it’s been left this long. I suppose that with the two English shows being in football stadiums there’s also the potential problem of them still being used for matches should the season restart, but that would’ve been obvious to the organisers weeks ago.

ratspeaker · 24/04/2020 18:14

I got email re Download festival and transferred to next year ( I hope this includes campervan ). They did give option for refund.

Hellamega Tour seems to have conflicting information online , from it still going ahead in Glasgow, to postponed until next year.
no email as yet

Iwantacampervan · 24/04/2020 19:14

My two are waiting for news of both Hella Mega and MCR - it's highly unlikely that both concerts will be going ahead especially as football may be on but they want to know if it'll be a cancellation or reschedule.
I've had two events cancelled & the money refunded by Ticketmaster straight into my account.
I'm going to need to make a list of all the new dates that we've been given for concerts & theatre shows especially those in 2021.

PatriciaHolm · 24/04/2020 19:58

I had my Killers email today too - everything pushed out a year, so my Sat 6th June tickets are valid for Sat 5th June next year.

Nothing said about refunds if you can't make it, I expect they will be pushing you to resell.

SomewhereNow · 24/04/2020 20:04

I’m waiting on Hella Mega too. Also had tickets for The Who which was rescheduled but I chose to go for a refund which went through no problem, hopefully this will be the same if it’s cancelled which I assume it will be.

DragonMamma · 24/04/2020 20:06

Also waiting on Rammstein too 🤨

WitchQueenofDarkness · 24/04/2020 20:18

And another wondering if the Rammstein gig will be rescheduled.

CornishPorsche · 24/04/2020 20:24

For Rammstein we're booked for Coventry, rather than Cardiff.

It's shocking that Ticketmaster are still selling tickets right now, but since there has been no guidance on how or when large gatherings like this can restart, I doubt they'll cancel anything until they are told.

Our hotel for GnR has cancelled our booking though!!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 24/04/2020 20:24

Queen and Adam Lambert has been pushed back a year. Quite pleased because I really want to go.

Aragog · 24/04/2020 21:47

My concert tickets for May have been moved to October. I could have had a refund if I couldn't make it.

Theatre tickets have also been refunded though they did send an accompanying message asking if you'd consider donating some of the price towards their funds.

Still waiting to hear in DD's festival in July. She's only paid the deposit so far. No idea when she was supposed to finishing paying the rest anyway.

Fiddlersgreen · 24/04/2020 22:01

I have tickets for 17th May. I don’t expect it to ahead at all and if it does, I won’t be going as it’s too soon, but all the venue is saying is that all gigs up to 7th May are postponed

Iwantacampervan · 27/04/2020 18:38

MCR now postponed to 17th, 19th & 20th June 2021 still at Milton Keynes.

Daffodil101 · 27/04/2020 18:40

Queen - tour cancelled, same dates (June) next year, no refunds.

Am pretty annoyed - DD has her GCSEs next June, she may not want to come to a late finishing concert if she has an exam next morning.

QueenofallIsee · 27/04/2020 18:42

Download is being refunded. We have been the last 3 years but it’s always line up dependant. We have tickets to Motley Crue in Chicago that as yet aren’t confirmed as postponed or cancelled, Alanis Morrisette in Sept too. I am really hoping that we get to see at least one of them

Noname99 · 27/04/2020 18:47

I’m also waiting for GnR ..... and Picture this in Ireland in June.
Catfish has been rescheduled but for a Friday which I think is rubbish!!! How many people can go to a day gig on a working day!
Seems everyone is desperate to hold on to the money and not say anything till the last moment. I guess they are trying to protect cash flow but it’s really annoying!

Mlou32 · 27/04/2020 18:50

@maidenover we're meant to be seeing them in Malahide, have they offered refunds or just a rescheduled date?

ChicCroissant · 27/04/2020 19:01

Same as the OP, bought Little Mix tickets directly from our (local) venue and they emailed last week to say it was cancelled and they would refund the money in the next 28 days.

Got another concert a couple of weeks after that (July) and not heard about that yet but expecting that to be postponed to another date (Billie Eilish).

Ghostlyglow · 27/04/2020 20:08

I've had refunds for some gigs, but I had to ask because they are officially 'postponed'. To be fair, once I did asked they refunded straight away though. I've left a couple of the postponed ones that are supposed to be happening later this year (but I'm not sure there will be any gigs this year).
I've donated to one of our local small venues as well and I'd encourage any music lovers to do the same if you canSmile

HaddawayAndShite · 27/04/2020 20:12

Only got tickets for Green Man festival in August which is still going ahead so far and The Chats in October at Rock City (which was moved from a Saturday to. Thursday with no offer of a refund grr)
