Team Fruit or Team Vegetables

Besides strawberries I am not too fussed about fruit, I eat it out of a sense of duty.

Having an apple say, has never stopped me wanting a chocolate brownie mid morning, I'd just end up having both so it seems pointless extra eating but it's not that tricky to get veg into your lunch or dinner.

So if you had to choose one, either fruit or veg, which would you give up forever?

I'd give up fruit for reasons above.

Definitely fruit. I like grapes, an occasional satsuma, maybe an odd slice of mango but that's it really whereas I would happily have a plate full of veg every day.

Luzina · 21/04/2020 23:39

I love both but I couldn't give up veg.

Duckingell · 21/04/2020 23:39

Team veg here.

Fruit is okay in a smoothie but that's it.

Vegetsbles though I can eat forever. Love them all.

Maybe it's a savoury vs sweet thing. I'd choose cheese n biscuits over dessert any day.

I prefer veg. I need to start eating better and the only fruit I bought was a punnet of grapes. Yet I bought green beans, asparagus, sugar snap peas, carrots and randomly mixed pickle!

TenShortStories · 21/04/2020 23:42

I like both but there are plenty of other places I'd rather get a sweet fix from so veg wins all the way if one had to go.

JellyfishandShells · 21/04/2020 23:49

I love fruit and get twitchy if don’t have my morning orange plus other fruit during the day but if I had to choose which to keep would be vegetables because they can be a main meal and are delicious .

Horrible choice, though - would not be bothered about chocolate, brownies or otherwise. Can’t I just give up non -fruit sweet things and keep both fruit and vegetables?

MysweetAudrina · 21/04/2020 23:54

Fruit all the way. I had grapes and strawberries with breakfast, a satsuma and red delicious apple at mid morning and another satsuma mid afternoon. I did have sweetcorn, baby corn, mangetout, chillies, spring onion and garlic ( is that a veg?) at different stages of the day too but I much prefer fruit.

Titsywoo · 22/04/2020 00:02

Veg. Im not a fan of fruit unless its cooked, covered in crumble or pastry and custard Grin.

Davros · 22/04/2020 00:04

Vegetables. Fruit is just annoying with its stupid skin, cores and pips

aintnothinbutagstring · 22/04/2020 01:08

Team veg, unless it's cooked in a pud like previous poster said. Love all types of veg, love a salad. Only can get excited about perfectly ripe strawberries covered in cream, Clementines in winter, nice apples, melon is ok.

MolotovMocktail · 22/04/2020 01:13

Fruit 100%. Tastes so much better than veg.

HappyBirthdayQueenieMarm · 22/04/2020 01:14

Id give up fruit.

Sparklfairy · 22/04/2020 01:16

Veg. And weirdly apples make me hungry (?!) so I never eat them.

Most I'll do is grab some ready packaged pineapple or melon but this is rare.

I think PP is right that it's a sweet vs savoury thing. I don't have a sweet tooth at all but could practically eat salt on it's own by the teaspoon I don't though honest

HappyBirthdayQueenieMarm · 22/04/2020 01:22

Apples make me bloated and gassy Grin

Yellredder · 22/04/2020 07:04

I'm Team Veg. I like fruit, but have found that it adversely affects my IBS so not eaten much of it in years. Then I discovered that is makes my blood sugars go too high. I might occasionally have a strawberry or a raspberry!

FourEyesGood · 22/04/2020 08:57

Team veg! Fruit is OK but it’s too expensive and not as versatile as veg.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 22/04/2020 08:59

Team veg. You can't trust fruit. It is so often over or underripe, too sweet or too sharp.
Fruit is only ok if cooked.

AllPlayedOut · 22/04/2020 09:00

Team veg. I only occasionally eat fruit but I love vegetables in all their varieties, and could easily live without fruit.

AllPlayedOut · 22/04/2020 09:02

In spite of much preferring vegetables I definitely have a sweet tooth.

MelonSugar · 22/04/2020 09:05

Team veg despite my username! There isn't a vegetable I don't like, but for fruit the only thing that I really love is grapefruit but don't eat it that often, I'd rather have a bowl of sprouts then a bowl of grapes!

Cherrytangfastic · 22/04/2020 09:08

Veg lover here so I'd give up fruit. I do love strawberries though

BillywigSting · 22/04/2020 09:09

Team veg here.

Fruit is often disappointing, mealy apples, sour strawberries, bananas that are under ripe for a week, ripe for approximately five minutes and then covered in brown spots, stringy plums, bitter peaches.

Veg, even when it's not absolutely perfect is almost always delicious.

BeansOnToast4T · 22/04/2020 09:13

I like both but eat much more veg than fruit - so I would have to pick veg.

TheStuffWasBad · 22/04/2020 09:20

If I had to, if give up fruit. But would that mean I had to give up tomatoes? Sad

Feawen · 22/04/2020 09:23

I like fruit as a treat (berries, mango, figs), but veg is such a daily staple I couldn’t do without it. So I pick veg.

Unless I can be cheeky and Java anything that’s botanically a fruit? So peppers, courgettes, tomatoes etc as well as apples and such. I’ll give up rhubarb in exchange Grin
