Please help me sort my horrible nose out.

My nose is disgusting. It looks like a strawberry. Constantly red and pores the size of god knows what. I am very ashamed of it. I fully take my makeup off when I get home and cleanse tone and moisturise. Is there anything I can do to sort it out or am I just stuck with it forever? Pics attached

It looks fine to me, and we all have pores that are visible in certain lights. It doesn't look very red either, so it's not obvious to me that it needs anything. However, I assume you can apply foundation to lessen any slight redness that is bothering you.

Have you tried pore strips? They are the most satisfying invention ever.

dramallama5 · 21/04/2020 19:18

It is actually a lot more visibly red IRL but my phone/camera is rubbish. I do wear makeup everyday to cover it but would love the option and to feel comfortable going out without it sometimes

@Bienentrinkwasser I've tried them a while ago that my partner had but I don't remember if they made much difference. Have you got any recommendations of specific ones and will they help?

I’ve taken the leap while I’m working from home to not wear makeup and it’s done my skin the power of good.

Can you try laying off the makeup for a while, because that can’t be helping the blocked pores and you maybe need to give your nose a break (not literally!) and see if that helps.

mumme111 · 21/04/2020 19:26

My nose has been like that since around 10 years old and I'm 36 now and I've literary tried every treatment possible I've even invested in salon equipment for home use but it doesn't help maybe it's genetics or diet? X

dramallama5 · 21/04/2020 19:32

I'm still going to work full time so think I would scare my colleagues if I turned up with no makeup on! Strangely, I had a week off a few weeks ago and didn't put any makeup on, my skin was actually worse at the end of the week. It could be genetics, my dads nose is the same/worse. My diet isn't bad though.

They're just sebaceous filaments :)
You could use a pore filling primer if you didn't want to wear makeup
If I photo my nose that close it looks the same!

ClientQ · 21/04/2020 19:40

Posted too soon. You can reduce the appearance of pores but you can't close them, and don't use pore strips!

BHA is probably your best bet, and make sure to use SPF daily

babysnowman · 21/04/2020 19:42

I'd suggest a pore strip too, I've tried loads of brands and the only one that works is Biore.

GoBackToPartyCity · 21/04/2020 19:44

Sebaceous filaments? Try salicylic acid.

Sparklingplasters · 21/04/2020 19:45

Try a mineral powder foundation

jeremypaxo · 21/04/2020 19:59

You can't shrink pores, unfortunately, and any cleansing strips will give a temporary effect only. My advice would be to get a pore filler/blurring make up product. Benefit do a good one. Also ensure you do your eye make up so that people's gaze is drawn away from your nose.

It's not that bad though, honest! Most people have at least some visible pores on their nose.

Thank you everyone! Will look into bha products after reading that article which was really helpful.
