How to block out traffic noise

Hi everyone, long time MNetter here.

I was hoping someone might have ideas about what I can do to make the room quieter. Where I'm staying right now is on a main road (with lots of lorries and constant stream of traffic 24/7) and the traffic noise is keeping me awake all night. I've tried ear plugs but they're not blocking the noise out that well.

The window is a wooden full length french window style double door thing onto a tiny balcony. I don't know if there's anything I can do to it with tape or something to stop the noise getting through so much.

Any recommendations I'd be so grateful, I've had such interrupted sleep for weeks I'm so tired I could cry!

you can get soundproof tape, it might be worth trying to put that round the outside of the windows/where any gaps could be and then putting a film like this over the window to give it an extra layer. you can also try playing white noise whilst you sleep x
