As above, I'm an Australian living in England and I'm really unsure about where my long-term prospects are. We'd always planned to move back home after a few years and now a few years have passed and I'm really not sure. Things that bother me about Australia is just how expensive everything is (we're from east coast urban Australia) and how far away it is from just about everywhere. On the other hand, it's where all our family is...so just wondering if anyone has been in a similar position and what your thoughts are.

Are you in a relationship/married to a Brit or have family connections/obligations there? Do you have to return or feel obliged (aging parents?) is it just family ties that warrant returning to Aus? Could you just visit more frequently rather than relocate back? Do you even want to return?
The decision can be really complex (family/work/custody) or really straightforward (just happy where you are, no real need to return just a niggle that you should).
Aus being so far away - well that's relative to your perspective and needs.
Expensive - well yes, but again relative to your perspective and needs/wants. Both are first world countries with high standards of living that cost. How the next few years play out economically in each country post pandemic might help in making your decision?

I'm married to a Brit, have lived over there, returned to Aus (not east coast) to have and raise kids, will likely return for a stint when kids are young adults and doing own thing and we've done our time in the industry we work in currently (barely exists in U.K.)
I've genuinely made detailed pros and cons list re which country at what time to help make these decisions. Good luck!
