I'm supposed to start on Monday but I've no idea what ward, what county or anything.

Does anyone else know what they are doing?

I’m supposed to start early May and also have no idea where I’m going. I do know which trust I’m going to though as we were given a choice. Still have 2 assignments and an exam before that though.

What year are you in?

We have an assignment, a safe medicate test and our dissertation - all while in full time work (and three kids).
It's going to be an absolutely brutal 8 months.

What year are you both in? I’m a second year student (adult nursing) and we’ve heard nothing. We had a questionnaire asking if we would do 80/20 and if yes, were we immediately available and what trust would we prefer but that was a few weeks ago and nothing further has come in. We have 2 assignments, an exam and an osce left to do this year.

Also how does it work money wise? Do you get paid an hourly rate? Will you be assigned a mentor? We’re left in the dark but the other uni in our city has students going in next week!

I'm final year, but feb intake. There's also a final year September intake so they are 6 months ahead of us.
We're starting at band 3 wage and they are starting at band 4.
And it's a salary rather than an hourly rate.
Will you be assigned a mentor?
They aren't called mentors now (for us) they are called practice supervisors. Our skills book has been stripped back to almost bugger all. There's little to nothing to get signed off. Which feels a bit weird.

All the uni's are going in in different rates

Out sept cohort have only just found out where they are going, some just two days before they were expected to start.
We're supposed to start on Monday and we haven't been told where we go, or even if we got the trust we requested.
So I think (for us anyway) the second year students are a few weeks away from knowing.

What's weird is that our local children's hospital is a ghost town. Yet apparently they will find places for all the students? I don't see how this is going to happen.

A friends friend is September 18 cohort like us but at a different campus (same uni but doing children’s nursing) and she’s had a date to start!

Ah yes Of course they’re practice supervisors/assessors Blush my tutor was slap my wrist for using the wrong words! How ridiculous that people still don’t know where they are going, how are people supposed to sort childcare/transport etc. Although I suppose everything’s very much in the air and once students are in it might be a bit bette. Do you wear your student uniform or a HCA uniform?

Studentnurse92 · 21/04/2020 08:53

I’m in year 2 and we are being paid band 3 wage for 12 weeks

Are you an adult nurse?
