Churchill - greatest Briton?

In 2002 a nationwide poll voted Churchill the greatest Briton of all time.
Over these years of Brexit and now Boris Johnson, I have seriously gone off Churchill. What do you think?

Being British is not something anyone is better at than anyone else.

He was bloody terrible at actually running the war, just a good public speaker who to be fair had the balls to not surrender.

Of all the reasons to go off someone without whom the Nazis would have had total control of Europe, that reason must be one of the most childish.

The way that Boris Johnson apes Churchill has focused my mind on Churchill's weaknesses. The ruthless ambition (eg all the party swopping), showmanship, dislike of women, drinking, etc.

He sent the Black & Tans against us. I don't think you can underestimate the level of collaboration at the top.
