Vain, I know, but do you have a frown line?

If you’re mid 40s or thereabouts do you have a line or two between your eyebrows?

I do and I currently hide it with a fringe. I’m not sure I really suit the fringe. I’m just wondering if most people by my age have a frown line or not. I mean am I trying to hide a ‘flaw’ which is just normal? I’m not bothered about laughter lines for example.

I’m quite a bit older than you and have no frown lines or forehead wrinkles generally. . I think some people are prone to them and others aren’t. I also think it might be down to the fact I’ve had a heavy fringe most of my life which has protected that part of my face from sun damage.

It’s not much help at the moment but when things get back to normal Botox can be very effective at softening frown lines.

I am 34 and have a massive frown line. It's just the way I look I think, I frown when I do anything - listen, think, even smiling. I had a fringe forever and have started getting Botox. I'm sure the current situation of WFH with 2 small DCs is breaking my Botox as I'm sure my frown is pre-maturely returning.

I'm 35 and have three small ones on my forehead

I'm 29 and have one 😂 permanent grump, I suppose.

Polyethyl · 20/04/2020 15:36

Yes. 42 and a frown line is now constant.
Just one of those things I suppose. Glum.

ItsACounty · 20/04/2020 15:38

It must be the fringe and an avoidance of the sun. I’m 60 and have had a fringe most of my adult life. I don’t have any frown lines on my forehead and very few wrinkles.

GreyishDays · 20/04/2020 15:47

I don’t have any forehead lines. My frown line is from actual frowning I think!

Quite a lot younger and I have one. Must have a hell of a resting bitch face

ginandgingers92 · 20/04/2020 16:01

27 and I've got one 🙈

whatswithtodaytoday · 20/04/2020 16:03

Yes. I'm 38. It's perfectly normal to develop lines as you age, though it does depend on skin type - mine is quite oily so I have fewer lines than some friends.

Get Botox if you want, but be aware people can always tell.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 20/04/2020 16:05

Nope but only cos I've been having Botox for my 11s for years!

RainRainGoAway2020 · 20/04/2020 16:06

I’ve always had a fringe and avoided the sun and I have them! I was getting Botox but it’s worn off and I obviously can’t get it topped up. And no people cannot “always tell”. You can only tell when it’s overdone.

olivo · 20/04/2020 16:14

I have had a huge frown line across my forehead since I was about 17. Just part of me now!

CormoranStrike · 20/04/2020 16:27

I’m 52 and no, have very few wrinkles.

I do have grey hair and a few extra stones, if that makes you feel better

SpokeTooSoon · 20/04/2020 16:31

Not usually but as my botox apt was booked for the FIRST day of lockdown I’m a month overdue and can see the cross face coming back! 😡 As soon as this thing is over, I’ll be back to looking serene and calm.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 20/04/2020 16:37

I'm 42. No vertical lines (the ones people call 11s i think???) but a mountain of horizontal ones. I'm with it - I'm not bothered about looking my age.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 20/04/2020 16:37

fine with it

CatsMother66 · 20/04/2020 16:42

54 and no frown line. Just looked at a picture of Mum 86 and although she has wrinkles, she hasn’t a frown line. She is very placid and don’t think we frown much, not sure if that makes any difference.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 20/04/2020 16:47

Yes I do. Mid 40s, grumpy cow, frowny face. Don't really care.

Quarantimespringclean · 20/04/2020 18:57

@SpokeTooSoon. My botox is overdue too. I don’t have it for wrinkles but to lift my heavy eyelids and open up my eyes. As it wears off it looks like my face is slipping down.

HowFurloughCanYouGo · 20/04/2020 18:59

Get Botox if you want, but be aware people can always tell.

No they really really can't.

Quarantimespringclean · 20/04/2020 21:20

IME people can only tell you’ve had Botox if it’s badly done or overdone. Good botox will be undetectable.

I’ve been present when people have said this sort of thing. Sometimes I just smile inwardly and keep quiet but when I’ve been with good friends I have sometimes told them I’ve been having it for years. It looks natural enough that even now some of them don’t believe me.

SignOnTheWindow · 20/04/2020 22:13

@Quarantimespringclean out of interest, where do you go to get yours? Or is that akin to asking someone for their great-granny's secret recipe?!

Titsywoo · 20/04/2020 22:18

41 and no frown lines. My mum doesn't have particularly pronounced frown lines at 66 so maybe it's genetic? Although I don't sunbathe and never have and use SPF all the time which helps and I don't tend to frown when concentrating or whatever which a lot of people do.

Delatron · 20/04/2020 22:25

I think you’re either a frowny person or not.

I’ve frowned since youth! So do have 11s but not so many horizontal lines. My mum at 69 has none! But she’s not a frowner.

Botox helps but I found I was then scrunching up my eyes still trying to frown and developed more wrinkles just below the eyebrow which looked worse.

So now on Retin-A which softens them a bit.

I read somewhere that it’s not lines and wrinkles that make us look old but sagging and jowls more so.
