As it's likely lots of us won't be travelling abroad much for a while it's got me thinking about areas of the UK I know very little about. Some counties I have never even driving through and I couldn't tell you anything about them - I literally have no opinion of what they are like at all, or famous for. for example Northamptonshire. I've passed through bits of it on the motorway or A1 I think but I have no clue about what it's like. Bedfordshire is another one. I have a perception (not great) of Luton and that's it.

I'd love to do a road trip this summer if I can (motorhome) all around Britain and stop at least a few days here and there in all the nicest parts of every county. Tell me about yours. Where are the lovely bits everyone gravitates to? Or the secretly lovely bits few people know about?

catfeets it is lovely, settled here really quickly and won't be moving unless we have to. Surrounded by stunning open moorland and hills Grin

Derbyshire, the Cotswolds and Dorset are my favourite places. I also love Cornwall when it's not too busy.

Hampshire. I live very close to the sea, ten minutes and I am in beautiful countryside and I would never move from here.

I have a beach hut and last year spent many a lazy gloriously sunny day just gazing out across the Solent, it was just perfect watching the shipping traffic, the paddle boarders and the yachts drift by.

Really miss not going to the hut with the virus about and lock down in force. Sad

I used to live in Sussex and loved it. Gorgeous little villages and country pubs. Close to the coast and a day trip to London easily doable.
If you travel through Staffordshire, just stay on the M6 Wink until you reach Yorkshire Smile

@cobblers123 I'm with you on that one. I'm in Hampshire, within the National Park, and I love having the forest in one direction and the sea in the other. Although I do nip over the border to Dorset for the beaches there fairly regularly.

I'm in Nottinghamshire. I can't stand it. The city used to be ok but has really gone downhill in recent years. The countryside is...middling but isn't as pretty as Leicestershire or Derbyshire.

Lockdown has scuppered our plans to move away and I can't wait until we're all released so we can do just that.

You have got a fantastic modern tram system and a proper concert arena which Derby & Leicester haven’t got.

Agree about the countryside, though.

The tram doesn't go anywhere near where I live or near where I work so I've never been on it.
But I'll take your point about the arena (although I've been to some cracking concerts at Pride Park in Derby)
