Asda groceries payment

Im due my asda delivery tomorrow but have had an email saying my payment hasn't gone through.

I don't actually get paid until tomorrow but this has never been a problem before as they authorise your card 1p at the time of ordering then take payment at midnight the day of delivery.

This has totally screwed me over as I have a reoccurring slot for a Monday morning but now won't be able to use it & there are no other delivery slots available for weeks.

Has this happened to anyone else lately?

Asda don't authorise 1p they authorise the entire payment and in theory, it gets released before they try to take final payment but in reality of often doesn't, meaning your actual payment bounces unless you have double the funds you need in your account.
I suggest you phone them and ask why they are trying to take the payment the day before the delivery. Presumably if you get paid tomorrow a ghost payment won't matter.

Thank you @CodenameVillanelle I'll give them a call now.

This happened to my sister a couple of weeks ago! She rang them & complained & they got her a slot a week later. Try that!

Well Iv just called and all she could advise is that they authorise the card the day before and that they will try again anytime between 10pm & 12am and if the funds aren't there then my order will be cancelled.

Apparently this has always been the case and basically tough. Even though it hasn't & Iv had the same slot on a monday for years! She has forwarded my case to the resolution team and I would expect a call in a few days. That doesn't bloody help for my order tomorrow.

She said the only thing I can really do is ask family to lend me the money or wait to see if it go's through. Angry
