What are the best things you’ve ever bought?

I’ve been enjoying reading about things people have been treating themselves to and need a bit of an imaginary shopping trip.
What are the top one/two/three things (apart from your house) that you’ve ever bought? The things that spring to mind for me are:

  1. Philips Lumea. I’ve had salon laser treatment years ago and even further back electrolysis, spent hours bleaching, waxing, sugaring and this is a revolution. No hair under arms, moustache gone, bikini line hairless and arms so much better. Best money spent.
  1. iPad. Had a few over the years and just love it.

I can think of other things I love but these are the ones that I think how did I live without that before?

What are your top buys ever?

Kenwood Chef mixer. I started my married life (10 years ago) with my mother's old one, then about 6 years ago it went up in a puff of smoke so she bought me my own one. It has brought my DDs and I (plus DH with the results) so much happiness over the years.

Henry hoover... An efficient hoover makes life so much easier.

Super King size bed. Couldn't be with out it. Plenty of space for us both to stretch out a night, we coslept with DDs in it when they were little. If one is having a bad night, there's space for them.

Kindle (Paperwhite) well I didn't buy it, it was a gift but remains the best gift I've ever received! I never thought I'd get one, have always been a big reader and didn't think I'd manage without the feel and smell of a new book. But... life changing! I can bring it anywhere with hundreds of books on it, can read in any light, not disturb my DH at night, adjust the text size (I really need to get my eyes tested!) and not clutter up my house with books.

My Ninja Foodi. Best. Purchase. EVER!

Pipandmum · 19/04/2020 11:50

My dog.

Mucklowe · 19/04/2020 11:53

Not a thing but a treatment. Microbladed eyebrows. Life changing!

lekkerkroketje · 19/04/2020 11:57

The largest duvet IKEA sell, even though we've only got a 140cm bed. It nearly touches the floor on both sides so we can both steal as much as we like and no one ever goes cold.

Candyflosscookie · 19/04/2020 11:58

@pipandmum SmileI would say both my dogs too although I didn't "buy" them as such, they were rescues with a donation to the charity involved.

In terms of items:
Decent car with proper supportive comfy seats. What a difference! For someone who does a lot of driving, it's amazing the benefit of proper seats compared to years of old clapped out bangers. Love my car.

Brabantia bin with the lid you just wave your hand over. Sounds daft but it gives me a little glow every time I don't need to touch it while disposing of mucky stuff.

Coffee machine. Love the coffee every morning and makes me a much more pleasant person to be around! So everyone wins Grin

Train ticket to Newcastle in 1992. The outcome of that journey probably changed my life more than anything else I’ve ever done.

My mountain bike. It climbs anything and makes up for a great deal of unfitness (it’s a Sonder Transmitter, tubeless, carbon, bright green, to those who know and care about bikes).

A few years ago I would have said my Nipper 360 pushchair

Echo Dot, all sorts of music just be asking. M

Faith in Nature soap

BAM infini-T long length t shirts

Decent haircut!

Blundstone boots

VivaLeBeaver · 19/04/2020 12:00

My iPad. It’s pretty much glued to me when I’m at home.

Gym membership totally changed my life. Lost weight, got fit, made amazing friends and have a whole new social life.

ssd · 19/04/2020 12:05

I've always wanted to get ds a ninja foodie but not sure exactly what they do, can you tell me more fairy dust?

Oldandcobwebby · 19/04/2020 12:08

A Kent hand cut comb. Mind bogglingly better than a standard plastic comb, and only a couple of quid.

A case of watchmaking tools from Amazon for less than £15. Beautiful quality and it's so easy to change watch batteries and straps with the right tools.

Shark cordless vacuum. A real game changer.

Oral-b 4000 electric toothbrush. This replaced a Vitality brush and it is a whole different world. My teeth are so much cleaner and it stops me from brushing with too much pressure.

A top quality Sealy mattress. An uber bargain from Costco. It has totally transformed my sleep.

My Mercedes CLS. It's old, but had ridiculously low mileage. For less that eight grand it makes me feel like James Bond when I'm driving it.

bluebell34567 · 19/04/2020 12:10

cordless vacuum cleaner.

New flooring
Red coffee machine, toaster and kettle
French door fridge (last one was 20+ yrs old and had started leaking)

Lovebug06 · 19/04/2020 12:23

My kindle

WelcomeToTheMountaintop · 19/04/2020 12:23

bike

I just sold a much loved trek fuel to raise much needed funds (thanks DH crappy employer. It was a bit too ‘trail‘ for me anyway, and I comforted myself with the the thought that I’d get something more suited to me when things get back to normal.

Im in lust with that Transmitter. Think I’ve found the bike want. :)

My Best Buy is my noise cancelling headphones. Lifechanging.

GemmaTellerMorrow · 19/04/2020 12:27

iPad
Prescription sunglasses
Sonos

YewandOak · 19/04/2020 12:27

My Kindle Paperwhite.

My shelves are not groaning quite so much as they would be if I didn't have it(271 books on there at this moment in time)

TwoZeroTwoZero · 19/04/2020 12:30

My 50mm and my fisheye lenses.

Sleeping mask with built in bluetooth headphones so I can comfortably listen to relaxing sounds and drown out dh's snoring.

YouJustDoYou · 19/04/2020 12:32

Cordless vacuum. Kindle. Filter coffee. Premium bonds.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 19/04/2020 12:35

G-tech and handheld.

My kitchen flooring (it's not expensive, infact it was cheap, but I love it)

A shelf I bought for the living room, it has nothing important on it, but I just love it.

A steam mop. No more streaks or having to dry the floors after cleaning them.

A wooden remote holder that I superglued to the side if the bookcase next to the couch.

A big shelf that I put above the bed for pictures, makes the wall look much less bare.

Kitchen tongs. I did without them for so many years, flipping things over and splattering oil everywhere. Life is so much better.

I am still looking for a great mattress that doesn't cost a fortune. I have a terrible back. Also a good coffee grinder, if anyone has any recommendations?

nakedavengerreturns · 19/04/2020 12:35

Oh and vaseline spray moisturiser. Nice and light compared to some, and it really does save time. Only buy it when I find it on special though.

My Thermomix.
