Birthday in lockdown

My birthday is the week after next and I was wondering if anyone has had one recently, and did you do anything to make it more fun?

I know we are all struggling at the moment, but I feel really sad about not seeing my family.

We’ll have had 4 by the time the 7 weeks is done.

Cake, zoom for big family chats, presents where possible and cards.

Mine was last weekend. Only a few cards arrived in the post in time. DD made me one. DH had got me a gift in time, but none others arrived.
We had pancakes in bed. Then watched a film. Played a board game. Danced to some music. Went for a walk.
Some friends phoned for a WhatsApp chat in the afternoon - they'd each baked cakes with candles and had put up bunting/streamers etc,
friends who live a few doors up from us sang happy birthday as they walked past with their dog.
We had a takeaway for dinner.
It was a strangely lovely day.

My birthday is the week after next aswell Smile

My plan is to order some fab birthday gifts (I always buy my own as DH is clueless and I prefer to get stuff I want/need), takeaway or M&S tea (not decided yet), a cake, wine and demanding my family (all teenage or pre-teen boys) watch Frozen 2 with me Grin

It is on a weekday so am considering letting the DC have the 'day off' from schoolwork.

Not much else to do really!

Happy birthday to everyone who has had one recently! I've actually already had a few cards which are stashed away so they will be nice to open. It's just the two of us at home, but DH is making me a surprise birthday cake which I'm quite excited about.

I had a lovely birthday. Presents arrived during the day by post or from friends cycling past. Cakes, plants and bath treats. A friend recorded herself playing happy birthday and we had zoom parties in the evening. I'm here for the duration on my own but had a great time.

Mine was last week and tbh it was great! Family dropped off very thoughtful care packages on my doorstep, lots of phone calls and FaceTime. Obviously not the same as having my older DC home for a proper visit and going out for food, but my youngest woke me up with cuddles and cake so I really can't complain. I think you just make the best of it Smile

I'm not really very social, and only have a couple of friends, but I will miss getting together with my family. We have had a few zoom calls but my parents internet can't handle it very well Grin

Mine was last week, and a milestone. Instead of the massive party, we had roast duck, Chianti and a cake. I got cards from DW, DD and DGS. My present was an implausibly complex watch. I enjoyed it enormously.

Theukisgreatt · 18/04/2020 23:37

None of my family are in walking distance so no gifts but they are sending money which hopefully I can buy something fun with. I'm thinking a swingball! On second thoughts, maybe not, not sure my neighbours would be too happy!

Yes my twins turned 4 last week and we did party food, games, pass the parcel..etc. DH learnt to make balloon animals for them too.

My husband turns 40 next week and I've got all the stuff to throw him a Hawaiian theme party that he wanted including inflatable limbo game, cocktail making stuff and pineapple shaped cups.

Mine is in 3 weeks time & I’ll be on my own. My friend won’t be coming to visit, the meal out to my favourite restaurant has obviously been cancelled, I have not seen my family since February (due to visit just as vulnerable people started to isolate) & no friends live close enough to just “pass by”.
It will be a lonely day, but that’s what life is at the moment. It will pass & next year should be better ...
