UK holiday issue

Hi

We're due to pay the final part of our UK cottage holiday (20th June) this week £610. Already paid £300 deposit last October when booked.

We have emailed to ask to move holiday to same week in 2021 and the owner said no and to see how it pans out.

The problem is even if we are out of lockdown, I would be nervous about being so far from home, using restaurants and cafes, going on the excursions we had planned etc. So we would be sat in a cottage worrying.

We are both also furloughed to 80% so money is tight and we need to hire a car to go. We don't have a car but hire for our week away each year.

We wont get our deposit back and even if they did agree to move it to 2021, they indicated we would still need to pay this week for next year because it's their income.

Don't know what to do. Any advice please?

I think the general advise has been to pay it, then because they will have to cancel it, they will have to offer different dates. I really don’t think, being as Chris whitty announced measures will be in place until the end of the year, that anyone will be having a holiday this year.
