What are you realising you can do without/can't live without?

In terms of spending when/if things get back to normal?

I'm going through all my samples and left over bottles of hair/skin stuff.

Realised although it's nice, I can do without any sort of face scrub. Don't need my three different hair curl type products but will keep buying bumble and bumble gel oil.

Love the Clarins rose cream but looked it up and it's £75 usually !

Am using up the elasticiser, not sure I really want to invest in it.

Cheap shower and bath oils are fine - have noticed no difference between the posh stuff and the Tesco own.

Have realised my previous belief that I wore perfume just for myself was ... flawed. In lockdown alone I'm otherwise content, but perfume seems pointless. So, clearly I was actually wearing it in the acknowledgement of interaction with other humans. Not necessarily to be noticed but more as part of the story I present to the world. I do miss flying out of the door swathed in something marvellous ...

heartonastring · 18/04/2020 18:37

A bra!!! I haven't worn one in almost 6 weeks. Feels great Wink
I don't miss wearing make up but only ever wear mascara. I think I would feel odd if I didn't have mascara on at work.
I miss seeing my mum and my dd seeing family.
I'm 15 weeks pregnant so I'm glad to be wfh and not having to deal with morning sickness at work.
We are eating well and looking after each other.

Polkadotpjs · 18/04/2020 18:45

See I’m rebelling in wearing my perfume. Choosing what I fancy end enjoying smelling it. I do not need coffee pods. Getting ground coffee for my cafetière instead from a local company. I don’t need to buy lunch and we don’t need take out but have had it once a week as a treat

Do you follow the curly girl method? Do you know if the bumble and bumble gel oil is CG friendly?

PhantomErik · 18/04/2020 18:57

I only need to shop once a week. I hate food shopping so do little & often normally but it's loads easier to do one shop a week & it's pleasing to see the fridge emptying out before refilling.

We're eating a lot better than normal which is because there are no extra-curricular clubs to run around to. Unfortunately my dc are missing these & can't wait for them to start again (although they're enjoying the break in most ways).

Can’t live without
-playing rugby/the training etc
-nights out/socialising with friends
-taking my son to experience new/fun things
-gym, I cried about this one a few days ago, I know it’s a bit hugely pathetic, but I have BDD and only fairly recent in control of my ED, so the thought of losing mass does scare me quite a bit
-my car, I’m really missing driving it

Can live without
-work colleagues Confused
-eating out
-the daily alarm clock Grin

nevergoingoutagain · 18/04/2020 18:58

Missing time to myself. Everything else I can live without tbh!

loopylindazdaughter · 18/04/2020 19:07

I can live without husband, we've been more distant in lockdown than ever ever before. I've becoming to resent him tbh and think they'll be huge discussions once we have time without children here.

I can't live without time to myself or the gym.

AudaCityLimits · 18/04/2020 19:08

I am seriously missing watching my football team.

OntheWaves40 · 18/04/2020 19:12

Surprised at all the take aways, I’m having more take aways now than I’ve ever had.

Mine is coffee shop, friends, boyfriend, car

SouthWestmom · 18/04/2020 19:16

Sentimental killer
I think so, I bought it after joining a couple of curly girl groups. It's honestly the best thing I've used for my hair.

This is the one I use

I bought clippers for dh and ds's hair...£10 from amazon.
Done a pretty good job if I say so myself! Don't think they'll go to the barbers again after lockdown is over.
Dh did my hair today....not quite so successfully 😳
I miss meeting my friends for coffee, buying lovely sandwiches from the local deli.
I'm missing seeing my elderly mum. Standing at the fence yelling isn't quite the same :(
I don't miss the mad rush of life tbh. Or
School runs!
No delivery slots at all where I am so I'm buying more food locally from farm shops etc and it's ££££ but we are eating better.
I bought a kit for making my own wax melts which I've enjoyed.
I have a big poster to colour in
I bought 3 x kindle books when lockdown started.
Doesn't take much to keep me happy it seems ;)

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 18/04/2020 19:31

Yoikes, did you get the wax melt kit online? That sounds great.

yoikes · 18/04/2020 19:38

Yes :)
Google cosy owl x

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 18/04/2020 20:06

Thank you, it looks fab. It will be nice to try something new and I already have several burners to use then in.

tulipsrus · 18/04/2020 20:12

Quiet solitude is essential for me
And a pedicure

36degrees · 18/04/2020 20:13

Missing time to myself and going to the gym.
Not missing going to the supermarket more than once a week. We're eating really well, meal planning 100% of the time instead of 70% and saving tons of money.

mindutopia · 18/04/2020 20:44

Sort of, though presently working my way through some serious ethical dilemmas. Tomorrow’s Tesco delivery, only 80 items allowed, what goes: dh’s beer (I already ordered 3 cases of wine online), the soleros or the apple sauce for next Sunday’s pork? Monumentally torn at the moment.

Growingboys · 18/04/2020 20:53

I am missing going to church. Never knew how much it meant to me til now.

Also being able to have a glass of rosé outside our lock pub by the river.

And watching my children enjoy their school social lives. They are all very gregarious and are sad without their friends.

I don't know what I've learnt I can do without. Can't think of anything.

TheoriginalLEM · 18/04/2020 20:54

Definitely takeaways and eating out - we are eating much better

OhTheRoses · 18/04/2020 20:55

Really missing my sainos deliveries for the heavy stuff.
My colleagues - body language is hard to read on zoom.
France
Freedom

Have an inch of grey and it's not as bad as I thought - will be abandoning the five weekly colour.

Growingboys · 18/04/2020 20:55

Those of you getting takeaways, don't you worry about the germs?

I'm sick of bloody cooking but think a takeaway is another risk with all the people whose germs might be on it.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 18/04/2020 20:59

Can't live without my friends and social life.

Can live without cigarettes, weekly recycling collections.

usersouthcoast · 18/04/2020 20:59

I've just Brazillian blow dried and cut my hair and I think it looks great! Feels silky smooth.

I won't do it myself moving forwards all the time as I love seeing my hairdresser and consider him a friend, but will do my own Brazillian if I can't get to him for whatever reason
