What age did you start to think "this is it, I'm looking older"

Light hearted thread as I know it's a privilege to grow older.

I'm 37 and it's hit me. Lol

I thought I was lucky and blessed with one of those eternally young kind of faces (round, button nose, full lips) but boy oh boy the past few months have come at me quick.
I changed my blond hair to brown so now my greys are SO much more noticeable
My skin is just dull
My neck and chin feel 'looser'
My under eyes are dark and this morning I noticed crows feet without even smiling.
I can't lose weight as easily as I used to so I've got this middle aged spread way too early that won't budge

Ah well, I've had a good innings Grin
Time to embrace it and grow old gracefully? Dye my hair back to blonde and get some Botox once lockdown is finished

As soon as I had kids. I looked great when I was pregnant - fresh-faced and glowing, great skin and hair etc. Aged half a decade if not more overnight. And then another half decade during the first year.

Pelleas · 18/04/2020 13:34

About the same age as you! It was when those early morning wrinkles stopped disappearing when I washed my face.

Seeleyboo · 18/04/2020 13:34

This year. I am 47. I always looked 20 years younger but I am catching up fast and looking my age.

  1. So much grey. Wrinkles. Double chin. Bleurgh.
OccasionalNachos · 18/04/2020 13:37

Recently. I’m 34 and had my first baby in January. No wrinkles as such but my skin is shit, my hair is thin and the greys are coming in, my abdomen is best not mentioned and I am very, very despondent about not being 24 any more.

But yes, it is a privilege to grow older. Can’t complain really but I do wish I could get my hair highlighted.

hellodave · 18/04/2020 13:39

Im 40.
in the past 6 months Ive noticed my skin seems to be sliding off my face..... everything is somehow more droopy. I used to able to get away with no make up and still looked reasonable I think I was last ID'd about 12 months ago- not any more!!! In fact when the sun was shining the other day I caught my reflection and was a bit shocked about how old I look all of a sudden.
I really don't want to go down the botox route so IM just avoiding mirrors.

CottonSock · 18/04/2020 13:41

I have seeing my reflection now, age 41. Wrinkles and skin damage

happytoday73 · 18/04/2020 13:41

44... My face changed shape... Seems to have got wider, makeup does not sit right, hair thinner, I have a few lines, my skin is dull....

Definitely after having kids. They are 3 and 4 now and in the past year I've had that 'I look old' realisation when looking in the mirror. I'm 39.

Pigeonpresent · 18/04/2020 13:43

37 too- a grey eye brow hair and full on goatee did it for me

lubeybooby · 18/04/2020 13:45

at 29/30 I developed '11's in between eyebrows

at 34 I noticed I couldn't wear face powder the same way anymore due to under eye crinkles

Now 39 and starting to see the very, very early beginnings of marionette lines

Northernsoullover · 18/04/2020 13:45
  1. I'm 48. But I'm ok with it. I feel better than I did in my 30's.
kerkyra · 18/04/2020 13:45

Last year aged 48.
Realised the usual eye makeup and darker lipstick shades made me look haggered and old. Less is more these days.

IdblowJonSnow · 18/04/2020 13:46

Within a year or so of having both kids I aged a lot.
And my face has gone all skinny, it used to be much fuller. I had great skin (wistful).

somewheresorted · 18/04/2020 13:46

From 40 really, like jumping off a cliff! 😉

LaurieFairyCake · 18/04/2020 13:47

45 - was quite sudden

A few years later I had Botox plus an injectable facial (collagen and vitamins deep into the skin with a needle, about 20 injections all over)

They've made a massive difference and I'm going back for more. My skin looks hydrated and bouncy again.

At nearly 50 my only crappy bit is the hollow developing under my eyes as my cheek fat drops down my face. So fillers will be next but I will put it off as long as possible.

I would say that the Botox and injectable facial make me look 40 again.

timtam23 · 18/04/2020 13:50

I am in my late 40s and in the last 2 years I've felt I look old. I always used to look young for my age but now I look very middle-aged. I never before had to think about my weight but I've gone up a clothes size in the last 18 months, most of it around my middle.

missyB1 · 18/04/2020 13:51

48 and it happened quite suddenly. I’m 52 now and looking old and haggard unfortunately. I’ve never smoked and always had a good skincare routine, get my hair done regularly, eat very healthily and keep my weight down. So I guess it’s just age and there’s not much I can do about it!

TSSDNCOP · 18/04/2020 13:52

51

Action taken.

Twistering · 18/04/2020 13:52

@LaurieFairyCake what was the facial/where? Was it Profhilo? Thanks!

And I started looking older than I should early 30’s...too much partying! More years and a baby haven’t helped! :)

TheHoneyBadger · 18/04/2020 13:53

About 40. I now also pile on weight easily but find it impossible to lose. I’m now 44.

I have a passport photo from when my son was 2 and then the next when he was 12 (me 33 and 43). The difference is unbelievable
