What age did you start to think "this is it, I'm looking older"

Light hearted thread as I know it's a privilege to grow older.

I'm 37 and it's hit me. Lol

I thought I was lucky and blessed with one of those eternally young kind of faces (round, button nose, full lips) but boy oh boy the past few months have come at me quick.
I changed my blond hair to brown so now my greys are SO much more noticeable
My skin is just dull
My neck and chin feel 'looser'
My under eyes are dark and this morning I noticed crows feet without even smiling.
I can't lose weight as easily as I used to so I've got this middle aged spread way too early that won't budge

Ah well, I've had a good innings Grin
Time to embrace it and grow old gracefully? Dye my hair back to blonde and get some Botox once lockdown is finished

I'd say it was people started calling me "madam" to be polite!

Frazzlesandacoke · 18/04/2020 14:52

49 - about the same time I started growing a beard.

SleepingIsOverrated · 18/04/2020 15:34

I'm 32 and it's absolutely smacked me in the face this past week.

I dyed over my grey hairs on Tuesday and they're already creeping back in... I can no longer pull off 'fresh faced', skipping mae up makes me look drained and I've checked my weight today and despite fitting into my isolation leggings, I'm apparently e heaviest I've ever been other than pregnancy.

It's got me feeling so low.... do we adapt to this? Hmm

MrsSnitchnose · 18/04/2020 15:42

Last year at the age of 33 when I'd shead the rest of my excess weight and gained ten years

pinkrocker · 18/04/2020 15:46

@cheeseandpickledonions thank you. I'll get there

maria860 · 18/04/2020 15:51

I had my children young was 20 22 25 and people think my oldest son is my brother lol I'm 33 now and I'm having my fourth a girl after three boys.
My two oldest are at seniors everyone says I don't look my age but I've noticed the last six months I have aged have never had wrinkles but have a few under my eyes and between my eyes now.
I'm always looking for skin products to help my skin but I think the sleepless nights will affect me with this baby and age me faster I've got loose skin on my neck makes me really paranoid if I could afford it I would have it removed I think because I lost weight to quickly after my last son. But I'm grateful for everyday

Last year at 43 when 'outdoorsy' started to look plain old windswept and haggard. Black hairs growing all over the place. One on cheek yesterday which was leapt on by my tweezer-bearing DD (18). Eyelashes getting sparse and sun damage showing. Also, I have recently noticed the skin on the backs of my hands looking geriatric. This is made worse by all the handwashing, but still. Something needs to be done when we are out of all this. Gah.

TitanicWasAGreatMovie · 18/04/2020 15:53

Moving into my mid-40s. My face is jowly, and doesn’t have that plump look of youth. Also, my 11 lines are now deep and permanent.

It doesn’t bother me as much as much as I thought it would. I still feel that I look good for my age, I just don’t look young anymore (because I’m not!).

rosegoldwatcher · 18/04/2020 16:03

At 47 I suddenly felt old - psychologically closer to 50 than to 40 maybe. I had a baby face though and looked 10 years younger.
But then along came the blasted menopause at 53 and that was that. Thin hair, dry skin, apple tummy.
I'm not wealthy enough to afford the upkeep of extensions, or non-surgical facial treatments and not prepared to starve myself so that's me done!

triedandtestedteacher · 18/04/2020 16:28

This year at 35. Very difficult to deal with

TrickyKid · 18/04/2020 16:29

45-46

TwoZeroTwoZero · 18/04/2020 16:34

I've just turned 40 and I'm noticing those lines around my eyes and in between my eyebrows more and more. I have loads of grey hair and my eyebrows are getting quite bushy as well!

redastherose · 18/04/2020 16:38

48/49 so in the last year basically. I'm likely to be peri menopausal and have started putting on weight without changing eating or exercise habits.

Basilandparsleyandmint · 18/04/2020 16:41

I am 43 and have noticed more wrinkles around my eyes and I think my neck looks older now but not too bad - lots of friends of my age have started having fillers and Botox but am really not sure about having them and worries it’s a slippery slope

Emmapeeler1 · 18/04/2020 16:45

At 40. Almost overnight!

BestestBrownies · 18/04/2020 16:46

I’m fast approaching 43. Four years ago I passed easily for mid-20’s (very slim, athletic, ate healthily, pixie cut, no makeup, great skin, bubbly personality etc).

I then suffered a serious injury followed by a major health scare, got fat and depressed, stopped looking after myself and fucking hell, what a difference!

I am finally able to return to exercise and have lost 12lb so far. It has already made a huge difference to my face/skin and I’m starting to look more like me again. Hoping it’s largely reversible.

Slychomping · 18/04/2020 16:47

Frazzlesandacoke Grin Grin

Now at 55 yrs. Post hysterectomy. (But have been putting on weight for the past five yrs tbh.) Great to be without womb troubles but I am a walking middled aged cliché atm. Grey hair. Fat tummy Aching joints. Dry skin. A hideous weeble. Grin

ineedsun · 18/04/2020 16:51

This year. 46. But someone on here recommended hylauronic acid (probably spelled that wrong) it's amazing!

missyB1 · 18/04/2020 16:52

It does seem to be the menopause that signals the end of our youthful looks! I often say I feel like a dried up wrinkly old raisin. It’s like every bit of moisture gets sucked out of your body and the skin just shrivels! Bloody unfair!

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 18/04/2020 16:52

I had it at 35, got fit at 40, at 48 am now more Body- confident than I was at 35 Confused

Still have puffy eyes (less so when I remember my ceterizine Grin) and older skin and veiny legs etc...

But am fitter now than I have ever been, and a lot of fat disappeared when I got more active.

You can try and choose how you want to grow older (unless horrible health disasters such as cancer, arthritis, MS etc strike Sad) and you can get really fit and full of energy, by which point you’ll care less about grey hairs and wrinkles.

Always feel like I am on borrowed time and my luck could change at any moment, which motivates me to grab the here and now and get fit and have fun and not worry about details like crows feet.

Hope that does not come across as smug Shock

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 18/04/2020 16:52

I'm 44 and recently started noticing that I now look my age when I always used to look so much younger than my years! I'd definitely consider Botox or a facelift when all this is over and we're allowed out again if I had someone give me a personal recommendation.

RoscoePColtrane · 18/04/2020 16:55

Woke up on my 45th birthday and my face looked like a melted easter egg. I have gone from no greys to daily new arrivals, my neck has gone weird and I am developing jowls. On the plus side, my eyesight has totally gone to shit too, so I can't see myself in the mirror close up without glasses.
