What age did you start to think "this is it, I'm looking older"

Light hearted thread as I know it's a privilege to grow older.

I'm 37 and it's hit me. Lol

I thought I was lucky and blessed with one of those eternally young kind of faces (round, button nose, full lips) but boy oh boy the past few months have come at me quick.
I changed my blond hair to brown so now my greys are SO much more noticeable
My skin is just dull
My neck and chin feel 'looser'
My under eyes are dark and this morning I noticed crows feet without even smiling.
I can't lose weight as easily as I used to so I've got this middle aged spread way too early that won't budge

Ah well, I've had a good innings Grin
Time to embrace it and grow old gracefully? Dye my hair back to blonde and get some Botox once lockdown is finished

I'm currently 36 but noticed I'm aging around age 33. Haven't any greys yet though

mynameiscalypso · 18/04/2020 13:55

I'm 36 (I think) and I'm feeling it now. It's mainly the grey hairs and the fact that I occasionally catch sight of myself without much make up on and realise how awful I look - Zoom has a lot to answer for. I also blame my 8 month old DS.

Very suddenly at 39/40. Over the past year have had the beginnings of jowls and sagging on my cheeks. I’ve never had wrinkles so felt quite lucky until I started to sag!

35 after having my second kid. Mixture of ageing & fatigue. I always had a baby face too, people thought I was a teenager in my earlier 30s. I'm nearly 40 now and my face throughly depressing.

User1775564212 · 18/04/2020 13:58

Also cannot lose weight since hitting 39

Cattenberg · 18/04/2020 13:59

I dunno. I’m very short so everyone thought I was much younger than my actual age until my early thirties. Then my age really caught up with me. I’m 38 now and my reflection in a black, turned off phone screen is horrifying. Countless wrinkles around the eyes and puffiness. A marionette line on one side and a saggy chin.

On the plus side, a year ago I had a facial that took away all my wrinkles for a day or so. It was brilliant!

pinkrocker · 18/04/2020 14:00

Last December when my DH died after a year of awful illness. I always looked attractive and vibrant and 10 years younger than my actual age, now I look 10 years older at least. Grief has aged me. I feel I don't deserve to look any better right now, because I am still mourning his loss and I don't want to be attractive to anyone. I don't feel or look like "me" and I don't know if I ever will again.
(Sorry that was a bit depressing!)

Helmetbymidnight · 18/04/2020 14:00

you babies in your 30s have seen nothing yet 🤣

Honeyroar · 18/04/2020 14:01

Second half of my 40s. When the grey really kicked in. But on the plus side, my eyesight started to go at 48, so I don’t notice it that much unless I squint!

CookPassBabtridge · 18/04/2020 14:01

It's weird for me.. I aged overnight when I had my first baby and stayed constantly old and tired looking for the first 3 years, and since things got easier I've reverted back. I do have a few more crows feet etc but my photos and reflection look good again. It's weird! I thought I was done for Grin

MigginsMs · 18/04/2020 14:02

44

LER83 · 18/04/2020 14:02

In the last 6 months or so I seem to have aged very quickly. I was 36 in November. I've got very deep frown lines, loads of crows feet, the nose to mouth lines have become really prominent, My hair has become very grey and I just feel a lot older then what I did this time last year. I got married 2 years ago and feel like a different person from then.

cheeseandpickledonions · 18/04/2020 14:02

44... years of raising challenging child plus v stressful job coinciding with peri menopause. I now look like shit even when I make an effort 😢

cheeseandpickledonions · 18/04/2020 14:03

@Twistering
My friend had profhilo not that long ago she said it was AMAZING and she feels she looks younger and even prettier (ha!). I'm going to look into it more I think

Late 30s - years of poor sleep and stress and finally you realise that the tired look is never going away.

Rumpusinthejungle · 18/04/2020 14:04

I'm 29 and I'm noticing it now. I'm also very overweight but losing weight and I know I will lose some of the 'fulness' of my face, so I have used the past months commuting money to splurge on products for a very thorough skincare regime and it's already making a difference. My eyes aren't so wrinkly any more which is a plus.

I definitely went from looking very youthful at 26 to aging quickly when I became a mum shortly after!

cheeseandpickledonions · 18/04/2020 14:05

This was also made worse by the fact my friend sent me photos this morning of when we were young fresh faced early 20 somethings. I was so slim too and annoyingly I thought I needed to lose weight. Wish I was as fat now as when I first thought I was fat HmmGrin

I’ve just googled marionette lines, yes I’m getting those 😟

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/04/2020 14:07

The other day I was doing yoga in shorts and realised that I have crepey knees like my gran used to have. I'm 36!

To be fair to myself, I am happy with how I look age wise. But that was a surprise in a downward dog position to see the crinkles!
I've had white roots and a few face wrinkles for years after having zero sleep for about 5 years with ds 1. But I think that's quite normal at my age and doesn't really bother me.

however, it made me realise that I've spent so many years chasing 'skinny' I forgot to stop 'young' getting away, so I hope it's not too late!!

cheeseandpickledonions · 18/04/2020 14:10

Omg and I forgot about the cellulite!
My legs were always my fave feature, long and lean - now they're bloody lumpy and cellulitey Angry

49! I'm 50 next month and have lost my waist and jawline since around January Confused

RingaRosie · 18/04/2020 14:10
  1. My eyebrows have been eaten by thyroid drugs. Luckily my hair is still glossy & no greys... But my eyes are getting piggy, jowly bits melding into double chin. Cheeks are fine, the redness adds a touch of youth. But, overall, my face wakes up a bit wrong if I’ve not had a good sleep. Thinking of ditching my long hair, as I may be getting into Baby Jane territory... I think a teeth / eyebrow intervention would be good, though.
ItsClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 18/04/2020 14:12

As soon as I had my first child, so 24! It was the lack of sleep that I never recovered from and now I'm 30 and I look awful.
