Exciting topic I know but we struggle with shoe storage. There are 6 of us. We live rurally and walk often (everyone has wellies and walking boots). We all play different sports so trainers and various boots. Then everyone has school shoes, work shoes and casual shoes. Smarter ones live in bedrooms but everyday shoes trainers and boots just get dumped in a pile in our utility room. We have shelves in there but only two of them get used as the other two are too high amd there are too many shoes to fit there. It's a right bloody mess. How have you all solved your shoe storage situation?

We have baskets by each door, not ideal but makes it look tidier than all over the floor.

We have a cheap storage cupboard from argos, not a shoe storage cupboard, just one that would be used as a small/cheap sideboard. In fact we have two, one has files/envelopes/ printer cartridges in and one is the shoe cupboard.

We have 2 of these from ikea, they are really good. We have the taller one in the picture and a smaller on with 2 compartments.

We have a huge wooden trunk in our porch , everything gets stored in there . Not organised , but at least we are not tripping over shoes

I like the idea of the IKEA cabinets with maybe a welly and boot rack. That way the decent shoes don't get squished by the muddy ones. Thanks for sharing

We had the understairs cupboard shelved out, it's in the hall so you can take your shoes off at the door and put them in there. We've also got a bar in there for coats to be hung up, hides the mess of shoes nicely Grin

We have an 8 cube kallax unit by the door with 2 boxes each.

TheFogsGettingThicker · 18/04/2020 13:41

We have one of these but also a narrow cupboard with sandals and flip flops/sliders in, and a basket for converse type shoes (one by the back door also)

My hall is tiny and I hate the amount of shoes being abandoned there Sad

What a cool contraption TheFog Grin

Boot room/garden utility for outdoor boots, Wellingtons, garden shoes, walking boots and running shoes.
Bottom shelf rack in wardrobes for work shoes, everyday shoes. A few evening shoes in boxes above wardrobe cupboard.
Plastic tub with lid under bed for out of season and holiday shoes.

BarbaraofSeville · 19/04/2020 17:30

We use an old Billy bookcase in the utility room. Doesn't look particularly attractive but holds lots of shoes and boots.

When I was allowed to drive into the countryside I kept my walking boots in the car.

vanillandhoney · 19/04/2020 18:23

We have a bookshelf with a big cupboard underneath where we keep everyday shoes. Ones that aren't worn so often are kept in the bottom of wardrobes.

CMOTDibbler · 19/04/2020 18:26

We had a shoe storage unit built in the hall which holds 9 large plastic baskets. Cycling shoes in one, running shoes in another, gloves/hats and so on. Its brilliant, and keeps our enormous number of shoes under control (when you all have road bike, mountain bike, road running, trail running shoes to start with theres a lot)

Enterthewolves · 19/04/2020 18:27

We have these - two in the utility two on the hall wall

Thank you for all the suggestions. I really like the look of those Enterthewolves.
We are having a new cupboard fitted where a set of stairs used to be. It is quite narrow but those would work brilliantly on a side wall
