Any tips on how to get a delivery slot? I'm not ultra vulnerable or in any kind of protected category, just a regular punter with an account for several years.

I haven't been able to even get on to the website for about a month.

Do I give up on them and try and find another supermarket?

What choice do you have realistically?!

We use to book a regular online slot weekly and luckily had slots booked until next month. Wasn't sure what to do when they came to an end but found last week that we've been given priority access despite not applying for it. DP is vulnerable so it's extremely appreciated but we're perplexed as to why we've been given it. It's meant that I can now see slots for the next few days around 50% of the times I've looked, as opposed to never which was what was happening in the last few weeks. We've not needed to book any yet but wanted to see how it worked.

Tescos has been much more reliable in having slots available (needed to book for someone who does not live anywhere near us).

Betty - I don't know! hence my thread.

We would prefer to order online as we live in the most infected area of the country and we are getting through a huge amount of food (4 adults in the house). We are doing too many shopping trips.

I'd love to know this too op, used to shop in Waitrose most days and had just started using the delivery service. I haven't seen any slots at all for over a month. I had some success on Tesco last week but nothing this week despite being on at midnight which is when the slots are released.

In my area Waitrose have only been releasing slots for 2-3 days ahead. So when I checked this morning I could get a delivery on Sunday or Monday but if I want one for next Friday I will have to wait until Wednesday.

My neighbours have just been able to get delivery slots but they are elderly and a couple of weeks ago Waitrose emailed them to let them know they were entitled to slots.

I’ve tried been lucky in that I got a delivery a fortnight ago and have another booked in a few weeks time but that is it, despite trying quite often. The website claims that it’s sometimes easier using click and collect. Are there any alternatives you could use - eg wholesale firms doing delivery. I know New Covent Garden market has really tried to make up for the loss of restaurant sales

I know this example won’t help if you are outside the M25 but there will be firms local to you.

I know all the supermarkets are recruiting drivers but very few of us used grocery internet shopping before this but the demand is now off the scale. I don’t have the impression that anyone else is doing that much better than Waitrose.

Do you think it's geographical? I logged in today and there were lots of free slots right up until May! I was quite surprised and rang my stepmother (who is self isolating for 12 weeks) so she could get one.
We live in a very small town and not many people had Waitrose deliveries before Covid. I think the demand might be dying down.
Btw I'm not on any of the vulnerable lists (that I know of!)
I'd be interested to know how it varies over the country.

Morrisons now have delivery slots, big it helps

I think you might be right Howyoualldoworkme. Apparently Ocado have 3 very large warehouses but the others tend to do it out of their stores. I know where I live the Waitrose delivery covers a huge part of South London.
