Anyone else rethinking their future?

Toddler much happier at home than nursery, I’m not excited about returning to my job after mat leave especially as promotion schedules have all shifted now... This slower pace of life would be great without restrictions on going out. Anyone else rethinking the next 3-5years, and where that could take them?

Wow, well done @eldeeno! That’s very proactive of you.

I have applied for a new job too

I returned to FE teaching in November after 4 years off (sahm while kids were small) and I have to say this enforced time off had made me rethink my decision. I was apprehensive going back but thought it was just nerves; I now realise that my heart just isn't in teaching. I love the education environment, I love the people and working in a college but I am so filled with anxiety about the actual delivery. I do hours and hours of unpaid work every week.

The job I have applied for is an admin role related to exams in a special measures school. It's a brand new role, this year is their first year delivering gcse and obviously now have been cancelled. It's longer hours and less well paid than my current role, but something has drawn me to this school and this role and I just thought 'why not?'

I hope I'll have a 'virtual interview' next week and fingers crossed. If I was to be successful it would mean big changes for my family and particularly the children, going to wraparound school clubs and things like that. But despite that I feel optimistic about it so we'll see...
