NHS ward clerk night advice

Hi all

Is anyone or has anyone done a bank ward clerk night shift?

If so, what is it like?

I have my first night shift tomorrow. My substantive role is a med sec so I'm not concerned about the work per se, I'm a quick learner!

I just wondered how busy I am likely to be. Are the duties differing to a day shift? Any tips?

I used to work 5-10 on MAU and admissions ward. Admitting patients from A&E, receiving emergency referrals from GPs, admin of notes, retrieving old notes from med recs which was unstaffed at that time of night. Was also in charge of the bed board and bleep for admissions. Ensuring porters were requested for USS/XR. This was before EVERYTHING was paperless so prob doesn't help you one bit!
