So I work for the nhs, front line health care practitioner.

Oops! Anyway! I work in icu and today my DH has been told by his boss not to come in from
Monday because my job could put him at risk of catching it (no one in our house is 'vulnerable') and there fore he could pass it on to his colleagues.

He is also a keyworker so asked if he could take his files home to work on but he's not allowed back into the office at all because of my job.

I feel horrible that my job has put him in this position :(

Anyone?

HavenDilemma · 16/04/2020 21:20

That is horrendous! be

No advice but I'm sure you'll get some shortly!

HavenDilemma · 16/04/2020 21:20

No idea where that random 'be' came from!

WestWasnt · 16/04/2020 21:21

Are they going to pay him his full wage? I guess it’s up to them if they’re happy to carry on paying him. It is causing some people to become very anxious.

nopenothappening · 16/04/2020 21:23

So has he been dismissed? Furloughed?

daisypond · 16/04/2020 21:23

I actually think that’s an odd policy. Are they going to continue to pay him?

WorraLiberty · 16/04/2020 21:23

I thought everyone was supposed to be working from home if they can anyway?

furnooooo · 16/04/2020 21:24

No not dismissed. Told to work from home until his work runs out because im a risk to him and the company

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 16/04/2020 21:28

It makes sense to me as he should've been asked to work from home anyway, if there's work he can be doing.

What's going to happen when his work runs out? Will they furlough him?

WestWasnt · 16/04/2020 21:28

I’m not sure why you’re upset? He’s just being asked to work from home, like millions of people have been told to. I’m sure you’re very aware you’re job does put him at risk. A family member of mine caught Covid 19 from a colleague, who caught it from his wife who is a nurse and is working on a COVID ward.

furnooooo · 16/04/2020 21:32

Yes they will furlough him because he can't go into the office. I know the rest of the country is working from home but his firm are still in the office just all spread apart Hmm

They have specifically said that the reason he's been asked to work from home is because of my job.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 16/04/2020 21:36

I can see their reasoning.

Hopefully they won't have to furlough him as they may well find some more for him to do from home but if they do, fingers crossed they'll make up the 20%.

crustycrab · 16/04/2020 21:36

Well is he WFH or furloughed?

shwirurbsha · 16/04/2020 21:41

I can't really understand why you're upset sorry.

JulietTango · 16/04/2020 21:47

I suspect she upset because it's discrimination.

RainbowsAndReading · 16/04/2020 21:48

I think they are being very reasonable and careful. There is an added risk with you working for NHS which may pass on to others in his office who are vulnerable (unlike yourselves). I'm sorry I think they are completely right and it's great he's still getting a salary without leaving the home.

Samtsirch · 16/04/2020 21:50

This has been happening for ages with regard to partners of nhs workers, you don’t need to feel bad or guilty, it’s what is happening at the moment, and you are not the only ones it’s happening to.

MissMuddyPuddles · 16/04/2020 21:51

Is he still being paid?
If so I can see their point.

Eireni · 16/04/2020 21:52

Surely you’re aware many NHS frontline workers have left their family homes & living in hotels etc just for this reason to reduce risk of spread to their families and their families spreading it onwards etc. It’s a real risk.

Anyway sounds like they should all be WFH anyway.

nopenothappening · 16/04/2020 21:57

It seems like a pretty fair decision to me.

Kittykat93 · 16/04/2020 22:08

Can't see an issue with this. Many of us are having to work from home for a variety of reasons.

bettyboo40 · 16/04/2020 22:14

Is he being furloughed or being asked to work from home? He can't be doing both
