DD has braces, all adjustments are paused. If a wire breaks is it a dental emergency?

Just that really, we had a letter saying all appointments are cancelled indefinitely, we were not expecting any appointments anyway.
I know they will be adjusted and tightened eventually but I just wanted to check if a wire breaks is it classed as an emergency if she can't eat? As this has happened a few times (one time was due to a cornflake!!)
I'm also wondering if this will affect the end result of how her teeth will turn out, or do you think it won't matter (nothing I can do about it anyway!)

If/when it happens, you'll have to ring on your usual dental emergency line and they will tell you how much they can do.

I would argue yes because I remember mine breaking once as a child and it stabbing sticking out and stabbing my lip....but maybe braces are safer now?

I think if just from a 'will stop the braces being effective' argument it would be a no but if it is damaged and could be dangerous then yes.

DS2 had a breakage on his brace today. Now unable to apply the 'bands' to pull teeth back (overbite). Have to ring back tomorrow to speak to orthodontist in person, but have already been warned they are not 'fixing' anything. Unless someone is in extreme pain I suppose?

Our told us just to pile wax on it &call back if it became a greater problem.

Thanks all. We did have wax at first but had a huge difficulty in getting the stuff to stick on.
I wanted to reassure myself (and her, as she's asked) that if there was a major problem we could possibly get it sorted. I shall update her.
