Ken Bruce. A calm oasis...

I did the weekly shop, this morning. And as is normal now, found the whole experience quite unsettling. But the drive to and from the supermarket, was like a warm hug. No mention of coronavirus, or impending doom...Just the calming voice of Mr Bruce...I could almost pretend that all is well with the world....What's your happy place, in these uncertain times?

I love listening to Ken , he’s like an old friend

MutteringDarkly · 16/04/2020 17:26

(And it's the acronym for The Secret Service Does Not Comment On Protocol, I think?)

iklboo · 16/04/2020 17:29

He needs to be Sir Ken. Love listening to his show. I'm also chuffed that Sara Cox is doing 5-8pm at the moment.

noideaatallreally · 16/04/2020 17:32

Is there ANYONE who does not love Ken Bruce - 100% agree - he is keeping my sanity at the moment. Love, love, love how calm and matter of fact he is. Still do rubbish on popmaster though :(

Sugarfreejelly · 16/04/2020 17:33

I bloody love him too. I’ve used to listen to him when he did the late night show when I was a teenager and his appeal has never waned for me.
Arise Sir Ken!

Florabella · 16/04/2020 17:41

I realise I have become my Mum when listening to Ken. She used to always listen to him on Radio Scotland when I was growing up, and I've taken over the mantle now.

@MutteringDarkly

Oh thank you! I have always wondered (but didn't like to ask)

ICouldHaveBeenAContender · 16/04/2020 18:17

Camp Ken here too. Grin

Poppet1974 · 16/04/2020 18:32

I simply adore Ken Bruce, his voice just calms me right down, he makes everything alright 🥰🥰

HettySunshine · 16/04/2020 18:49

Ah Ken Bruce. Ah Popmaster. My little pools of normality.

Whatthefunk · 16/04/2020 19:13

Glad to hear that I'm not alone. My DSis said listening to radio 2, is a sign of old age.....Hmm

We were just commenting earlier about how perfect the playlists on Ken Bruce have been - just the right about of jolly singing along but nothing too dramatic - fair relaxes and cheers us every morning here.

xsquared · 16/04/2020 20:23

I always stop for Popmaster. I won a digital radio last year.

Listening to his dulcet tones retains a bit of normality for me.

janj2301 · 16/04/2020 20:27

I used to go to the recordings of Friday Night is Music Night at the Mermaid, he was fab. He used to be on stage warming up the audience such a lovely funny man, wicked naughty sense of humour

PuppyMonkey · 16/04/2020 20:28

Everything stops for Popmaster, it’s like Our Tune back in the day on Radio 1. Grin

augustusglupe · 16/04/2020 20:38

We love Ken here. He’s my favourite on Radio 2 and I dread the day he leaves. I still miss the Terry Wogan breakfast show, he had the same wonderful, comforting voice.
DH and me do Popmaster no matter what’s going on, we’re VERY competitive Grin

MrsT1405 · 16/04/2020 21:27

I just love the man. Always stop for popmaster although I get very few right. I listen to Chris Evans first thing cos I cant stand Zoe Ball. Shes just too giggly and daft. Chris does a lot of covid but hes entertaining and plays good music. Of course nothing compares to the great Terry Wogan. Didnt like him on the tv but loved his morning shows.

iklboo · 16/04/2020 22:09

We've got the Terry Wogan Janet & John CDs. They're hilarious.

BestIsWest · 16/04/2020 22:12

Ah. Lovely Ken.

I miss Terry too. Janet and John.

@Whatthefunk from the West Wing; when Ron Butterfield (Head of the President's protection detail) is asked a question on something he responds "The Secret Service Does Not Comment On Procedure". I am a mad WW fan. It's also used by MNHQ whenever anyone asks an awks question on the Site threads Wink
