Is one lamb chop enough?

Random - how many lamb chops would you have per person for dinner. Is one enough??

Loin chops? 2 for me, 3 for DH. Though it does depend on the size of the lamb.

Leg 'chops' one each is plenty

Bluebooby · 15/04/2020 21:34

If it's those tiny ones I have 4-6. If it's the big ones I'd have 1-2.

Elouera · 15/04/2020 21:36

Depends on how thick they are cut? The thinner, pre-cut type from a supermarket, I'd have 2, OH would have 3 if not 4!
Very thick ones (3cm-4cm wide) from a butcher, I'd have 1, OH 2.
Leg chops, I'd have 3/4 or 1, OH 1-2

I can only imagine the look of horror on mrformers face if I served up one lamb chop. He'd easily have 4/5. So would I!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 15/04/2020 21:45

I'd usually have one. Maybe two if they were especially small.

GrumpyHoonMain · 15/04/2020 21:47

I would say under lock down / if you are inactive then 1 bulked up with veg / salad

formerbabe · 15/04/2020 21:51

Oh God, it's going to be one of those competitive under eating threads is it?!

Ok then...I'd divide up the lamb chop between a family of four and bulk it out with a single green bean. That's plenty.

loppychoppy · 15/04/2020 21:55

Grin I'm doing shopping for a relative and am wanting to make sure I've got it right. I'd always have 2/3 supermarket ones, (they are usually small) with veg or salad. They are saying one is what they'd usually have, but am not 100% sure if they are talking about chops or the leg steak things...

How many pork chops would you have then? They are usually much bigger...

A whole lamb chop for 4 @formerbabe? AND veg. Bloody hell! That’d keep us going for a week! I buy diced lamb and cook one cube for four of us with no veg but we look at the salad bowl while we eat.

On the other hand my sister cooks 40 lamb chops, 5kg of toast potatoes, six veg and 40 Yorkshire’s and 3 pints of gravy for four.

formerbabe · 15/04/2020 21:58

but we look at the salad bowl while we eat

One pork chop apiece. (Which is one more than I want, tbh, I'm not fond of them)

Hirsutefirs · 15/04/2020 22:04

Err on the generous side.

roses2 · 15/04/2020 22:05

Pork chops are much bigger than lamb chops. I eat 3 lamb chops and DH has 4. The kids have 2-3 each.

merryhouse · 15/04/2020 22:15

We have two each, but in extremis I would have one and bulk up the veg.

Take a photo and send it to the relative "is this the type you meant?"

Actually, if it's just them you'll probably have to buy two anyway.

loppychoppy · 15/04/2020 22:34

I don't think I can go back and ask again, I've already asked 3 times, very specific questions, and each time they manage to answer in a completely vague and random way!!!! I feel like I'm in a bbc sitcom Smile

I'm just going to err on the side of caution and get a bigger pack, they can always freeze them if they only want one at a time...

Depends what sort. Nice fat juicy loin chops two. Tender little cutlets at least three, possibly four. Each.

MitziK · 15/04/2020 22:51

If it's a decent size Barnsley, one is enough.

If it's the pathetically overpriced shite that the supermarkets punt out, don't bother and get a half leg of lamb. That'll feed four for considerably lower cost and greater taste - chuck it in the slow cooker and it's zero effort, which is always a bonus.

OntheWaves40 · 15/04/2020 22:52

1 or 2, they are so expensive I fill rest of plate with spuds and veg
