Things had been a bit more normal here for the last couple of weeks but DH has just been to Asda and came back commenting that it looked like people had been in clearing the shelves again!

He couldn't get:
Hand soap (not that much of a surprise, that's always been scarce)
Washing up liquid
Bananas
Bell peppers
Courgettes
Broccolli or cauliflower
Chicken thighs
Lamb mince, fresh or frozen
Pizza, fresh or frozen
Semi skimmed milk (any brand or size)
Flour (again not too surprising)

and got the last box of Felix cat food!

We have been able to get just about everything here, including pasta, eggs, tinned tomatoes, baked beans, loo roll and hand soap. Can get most fruit and veg too.

Much less choice in the shops, but that is fine as long as we can get the basics.

Stock levels have been increasing each week from what I've seen.

TheMandalorian · 15/04/2020 17:41

No flour, eggs, red bell peppers or playsand. Small selection of pasta.
Lots and lots of easter eggs.

Accingo · 15/04/2020 17:42

Lidl this afternoon no queue at 4.30pm and quiet in store.
Relatively well stocked, got everything for a weekly shop except for eggs but the cardboard on the shelf suggested there were some earlier in the day.
Plenty of loo roll!

SisterVanHelsing · 15/04/2020 17:44

Walked straight into Asda yesterday morning and got everything on my list including bell peppers, courgettes and semi-skimmed milk (luckily eggs weren't on it, or I'd have been disappointed). Good stock, nice and quiet - a pretty good experience apart from the 50% of shoppers totally ignoring the one way system in the aisles.

Cadfaelfan · 15/04/2020 17:48

Fine apart from eggs and flour, but quite a lot of cakes and bakery items yellow stickered.. Didn't have to queue yesterday evening. I think part of it will be down to whether they've had a recent delivery.

nowaitaminute · 15/04/2020 17:51

Everything here including flour and yeast! No problems whatsoever!

lovelydream · 15/04/2020 18:14

Sainsbury marks and Spencer and Lidl - no broccoli or cauliflower or bananas, no yeast either but everything is Lee seems to be back in stock albeit there are less to choose from eg abolish w couple of different sliced ham rather than the 10 varieties normally are

awesomeaircraft · 15/04/2020 18:14

M&S looked very good for all fresh veg, fruit, meats. Bargains to have as not many are coming to shop and the meat has a short self life. Eggs there too but flour.

Sainsbury's had flour.

BearSoFair · 15/04/2020 18:19

We did manage to get eggs and tinned tomatoes this week, that's been a struggle until now. Loo roll aisle full apparently so that's something at least!

People must be buying more eggs than normal because there’s the same amount of chickens laying them.

I haven’t set foot in a supermarket in weeks but have an Ocado delivery coming tomorrow so will see what turns up. I couldn’t add flour to the shop but everything else was saying it was in stock. Including eggs but I removed those from my basket last night as my chickens have decided to start laying!

In the village co-op there’s no flour, no pasta, no rice, no eggs, not much veg, not much meat. No tinned tomatoes. There was loo paper and plenty of milk and bread.

I can’t find galaxy chocolate anywhere and noticed the alcohol aisle looked bare.

I8toys · 15/04/2020 18:22

M&S this morning - no hummus, antibac wipes, brown sugar or flour. But they have been really good at stocking the shelves and the staff are lovely.

Whathappenedtothelego · 15/04/2020 18:27

I went at lunchtime today. Shelves a bit sparse in the veg section - couldn't get broccoli, cauliflower, carrots or peppers. Hardly any milk left either, had to buy 2 small bottles, but on the other hand I did manage to get flour, pasta, a tin of tomatoes, rice and liquid soap, all of which have been missing before.
I think it's just luck if you arrive before or after the shelves have been restocked.

ilovebagpuss · 15/04/2020 18:28

Our local Co-op which is the main small supermarket for our town seems to be a bit hit and miss but there is always a bit of most section available. For example not much fruit but lots of bananas or a batch of nice grapes. No mince but plenty of chicken. Shortages continue with flour and rice and pasta.
I wonder if they are being careful about what they put out so selecting stock on a sort of rotation. I’d love to hear from a supermarket worker or do they just bang out whatever they get in.
Anyway as long as you are flexible there is plenty of food.

lyingwanker · 15/04/2020 18:30

I thought exactly the same as your DH OP. I went at 9am this morning expecting to get pretty much everything I wanted but it looked like it did a few weeks ago.

No pasta of any kind, certain lines of fruit and veg missing, ham looked very empty and very limited choices, no butter, no pastry, no porridge, no flour, no yeast or other baking items, hardly any tinned veg or soup, no hand wash or soap and toilet roll very empty and cheese was very very limited.

BearSoFair · 15/04/2020 18:30

I do wonder if the timing today played a part. Usually I'd go mid-morning but I'm having a bad IBS flare up so had to send DH today who WFH in the mornings. (Absolutely not complaining about him going then, I'm very grateful he went!)

OP posts:
BearSoFair · 15/04/2020 18:31

Ooh x-post, maybe we would have had the same problems regardless of timings then!

Market town South West. Today shopping for myself and elderly neighbours, first time in over a week. Went 8.30am.
Morrison's straight in, fully stocked as far as everything I wanted, didn't look for anything I didn't. Just in and out as quickly as possible. No queue to pay.
Over to Waitrose smaller store so had to queue for about 20 mins in the sunSmile to get in. Again pretty well stocked and got everything required. Had to queue to pay but ok. Got Gin, essential treat in my book as had a gift card to use.

Troels · 15/04/2020 18:50

AtleastitsnotMonday
I have been to 4 stores, I'm not just shopping for myself (two households) we have a finite amount of money and need to get everything. I have special dietary needs and can't just grab whats availible. All the shops are close together and you can see them from each other. Start in he cheapest get as much of the shop as you can, then the next. I either go once and do it all or go mulitple days and see if things are in stock, I'd rather drive to town one time only and get enough for the whole week. Which I did. I'll do it again next Wednesday.

BigGlasses · 15/04/2020 18:57

I went to Lidl last Friday, no queue but it was heaving inside. The place was fairly ransacked, only got half my list.

Went to Tesco today, had to queue 10 mins to get in. They had most things, including a small amount of hand soap which I haven’t been able to get for a while. They didn’t have flour, bread flour, yeast, pasta, hair dye, hand gel, and surprisingly few crisps. But not bad.

CallmeAngelina · 15/04/2020 19:05

We've had no issues getting anything at any point really -apart from loo roll a few weeks back and hand sanitiser (which I didn't want or need).
Dd went to the large Tesco near us yesterday and said it was normal stock. The only thing they didn't have was rice.
We're Home Counties, just outside the M25.

blossomwilloughby · 15/04/2020 19:08

Online delivery today. Two sensible subs but otherwise everything came (although, thinking about it, I didn't have any tinned tomatoes, pasta, soap or washing up liquid on the order).

EggysMom · 15/04/2020 19:16

Asda yesterday - mid morning - 20 minutes queue to get in. Almost out of eggs, almost out of flour. Hasn't been yeast for weeks. Canned veg aisle still decidedly bare. Didn't have the full range of Heinz spag/beans (annoying as our autistic son is currently living on small tins of Heinz spagbol). Soups have been hit and miss in the past: fully stocked with own brand but almost out of C&B Big soup this time. Crisp aisle incredibly bare, ended up with beef wotsits! Plenty of toilet roll, thank goodness that panic is over. Half-price Easter eggs.

BackforGood · 15/04/2020 19:22

We've not had too much of an issue with anything (except soap) until this week, when ds came home without quite a few things off the list - including eggs which I'd have thought would have had time to be redirected into the supermarkets by now. Was quite surprised. I mean, we'll manage without, but I do miss eggs - they are so versatile , especially with everyone home at lunchtime.

AuntieMarys · 15/04/2020 19:37

Sainsburys and Waitrose both good the last couple of weeks. No flour but I don't bake so not an essential for me.
Plenty of toilet roll and tins.
I don't buy hand gel so no idea if there was any

KittenVsBox · 15/04/2020 19:39

I went to tesco this morning. Not a single bag of flour (but there was yeast last week, didnt look this week), but didnt spot anything else missing - I even got hand sanitiser - it's been dropped off on the doorstep of a friend who had her first chemo session thus afternoon.
