Lockdown Screen Time

So, be honest. How much screen time are your kids getting during lock down?

I said to myself I was not going to worry but now we are in the mist of it, I can't help it.

I have a 3 year old, so no school work to do luckily.

We tend to watch telly until about 10am, in this time we have breakfast, I make a start on my work emails (WFH in the evenings and weekends) then we are ready for the day and rarely watch anymore, apart from half an hour whilst I make tea.

I tried a more structured approach to the day and planned activities for when we get up, but the days we did this, we were both tired and a bit grumpy by afternoon. We found the relaxed morning worked for us and my LO seems to be enjoying the break from "real life"

The rest of the time, we play, cook do crafts and take our walk.

What is everyone else doing, are you trying to limit (must be very difficult with school age kids!) or just going with the flow for this time?

Mine probably watches 2-3 hours a day. He is five. However, if he had been 2 or 3 he would probably watched more!

For the rest of the time we are mostly out playing in the garden or trying in vain to get him to play on his own for a bit!

No way could I entertain him for 12 hours straight.

Probably 3 hours a day. Yesterday we had a good day where DD5 only watched 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes before dinner. Today isn't going as well and she's already watched that this morning but I'll try to not let her watch anymore until later this afternoon (not counting educational stuff - she's currently doing yoga on YouTube and will watch Maddie Moate's live science at 11).

Quite a lot tbh. Dd is 3 and I’m a lone parent working from home, it’s the only way I can get anything done!

But it’s only while this is happening so I’m not worrying about it, there’s too much else going on to worry about!

I wouldn’t worry , this is a strange time we are living in and whatever helps you to get by!
I have a 7 and a 2 year old. Both up at 7am and watch an hour or two.
7 year old gets in for an hour when toddler is napping .
Sometimes they watch 30 mins after dinner but not every day but if they want to they can!

Thanks everyone, this is reassuring. Sounds like we are about average then! Good to get some perspective, RL friends have been a bit elusive about their kids screen time Grin

The online resources are great aren't they! We did a virtual dance class with DD's nursery class yesterday and we love the Cosmic Kids yoga.

Yes there are great online resources for them, the cosmic yoga is great though we only did it once so far .
I’m sure when all this is over the kids won’t have any screen time for a long time. We will all be out away from the house, well I know I will be 😂

Mine has watched about 4 hours this morning Hmm

A Ben and Holly marathon. I did try to switch it up a bit with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and He-Man but they were having none of it so back to B&H
