What could I write in this birthday card?

My cousin has a significant birthday coming up but is going through an utterly shit time at the moment. The usual ‘have a great day, I hope you enjoy celebrating’ etc etc is utterly inappropriate and likely to insult.

What could I write instead?

Something like
Thinking of you on your special day and hoping/wishing that the year ahead is a better one for you

"Thinking of you on your birthday and always"

"With lots of love and best wishes on your birthday"

The first bit would work thank you I’ll write that. The second bit, won’t be true and their spouse would read it and they are the source of the problem. It’s horrible.

Hopfuly it will give your cousin something to look forward to without the spouse been around
